Unhappy How does one R&R the front fender?

Van stops faster than my '05 S-Type, I have been forced to rename our car to Humpty Dumpty

After straightening the Front Support (XR8053088) with an interesting use of statics course from 30 years ago, and repairing severed hoses, wiring and glueing sensors back into shape as a temporary measure, I was able to start the engine and then slowly deal with ten of the dozen error codes reported. The code left are a pending on the TPS (no @%#$, it was in 7 pieces before I applied some gorilla glue) and the pair of rear ABS sensors (probably will heal themselves after driving a bit, still in shock after some heavy-handed braking). Now that I have the powertrain going, I have to move on to all the busted body pieces.

Removed the Bumper Skirt, collected the shattered bits of the left headlamp assembly and fiberglass mounting panel (XR8045889) and Hood. I am left scratching my head over the left fender removal.

I have removed the three visible screws at the top, one at the front attached to the headlamp mounting panel, and the two hidden screws inside the wheel well area, and am left with the bottom still pinned to the body. Looks Like I need to remove the rocker moulding to gain access to a bold that is likely underneath. The Fender and the Rocker Moulding are NOT covered in the JITS or the JJM101516-92 technical guide. I have no intention of breaking more than I have to, so if someone knows the trick to removing the moulding, please do tell.

The elephant in the room is the hood, I can get most of the other pieces readily on Fleabay at reasoned prices for example, but all hoods are for the older models.

I live in the Orlando Florida area, any leads on body (preferred JHV Zircon coloured) components suppliers; reasonably priced new or used. I have Already tried LKQ (u pull it), they do not have any S-Types.

Ouch! Sorry to hear of this.

But... sounds like you need to fix the brakes (*) big time. All the S-Types I've met stop really well.

(*) and/or suspension, tires etc

Surprised about the brakes - They normally stop on a dime and give 9 cents change. Unless its wet...

Should be the same in the wet. Suspect tires if not.

Suspect the operator why else would the insurance company leave us to our own devices to fix the car. Grandchild was crying, wife slammed on the brakes too late because of the distraction, it did stop on a dime or it would have been a lot worse. All are OK 'cept for the kitty and my finances

1000 miles on the new tires, performance radials not cheap stuff, can not blame the equipment.

Sorry for being so cute on my opening sentence, distracted you from the question at hand. But it did get your attention, did it not?

Sounds about the same as Laurie's when I bought it only other side.

Yes the sill mldg has to come off. Some plastic snap in clips. Been over a year ago and several cases of beer so I don't precisely remember but it basically unsnaps. Look underneath. I believe the bottom retainers come out and then it unsnaps at the top.

Good luck on the hood. Get a local auto wrecker to do a search. I paid $650 for a used 03 hood but it was perfect.

Hopefully the airbag light isn't one of your error messages. If it is I been there done that and can offer sugestions to save a bunch of money.

Here's the link to my old thread following the rebuild in case you are interested.

Thanks for the help, got Humpty Dumpty back together again, just got her back from the paint shop!

Lessons learned:
1) 2000-2004 hood can be fitted with those model year hinges on later model cars, but nothing will solve the restyle of the grill area, you will also need the restyled bumper skirt.
2) An exact model-year hood color matched from Japan may seem like a great deal, but beware the lack of hood ornaments...
3) Patience on FleaBay does pay off!
