Default How durable is Jaguar paint

I have searched and can't find the answer. My 2005 has a few miles on it and only has 1 small rock chip on the bumper. This shocks me, I have never had a used car in this condition.

Is Jaguar paint really that tuff?
What is their process for painting a car?
What type of paint is used?

Also I have been researching and think I am going to use Dr.colorchip on the 1 small rock chip. It looks like a nice product.

Thanks

Most of the high end cars use Glasurit paint, which personally I think it is the best.

I've been pleasantly surprised at how well our 2005 S-Type paint has held up, especially for a metallic-based color (quartz). Much better than our 2004 Lexus RX330 (which is a metallic-based white)....

actually it is but it looks new, the whole cars paint is in remarkable shape given the yr and mileage.

I just wondered if jaguar changed their paint or how the paint in 2005?

My front bumper looks like a mine field. The rest of the car looks great, but that is probably due to my constant washing/detailing. Is it more durable, no, does it have a better finish than most, I would have to say yes.

I have noticed that our 05 STR paint seems much more durable than our 01 S. That was one of the first things I noticed when we bought our 01 was how easily the paint scratched. Does not seem to be a problem on the 05 and the 09 XF seems pretty durable to.

Maybe mine is bullet proof.......lol

Either that or the previous owner never rode close to anyone.

Either way I am happy, I just hope it remains this nice, if not Dr.Colorchip will get a work out..it looks like it does a great job!

I read on other forums that people whos cars are like a battle field take them to the dealer and have it professionally touched up for a cost of about 50.00.

This seems like a great deal if Jaguar dealers offer this.

all i can say is My S-type is the first car i have had where the clear coat has started to fail on the bonnet. i agree that the finish looks better than some cars from the same period (2003) but i am probably going to have to do something if it get worse. i know a spot repair wont satisfy me so it will probably be the whole bonnet.

I agree with oz, my bonnet needs a re-spray. Not sure if it is just a black car in Texas (even though it spent half of its life up north), but it sure looks older than 8 years... I've replaced the front bumper cover, so it is OK.

'95, Black TX car (Houston, then DFW) Hood is shiny with one stone-chip, 'bout the size of an M&M.
