Hi, I recently purchased 2003 S-Type Sport with all the options except communication and adaptive cruise control. I really can’t figure out how to fold the mirrors. I tried following the instruction in the manual, but they don’t work for me. My understanding is that my car should have this option. Could you please tell me how this option is supposed to work?
Thank you
Thank you

I have an 03 str and all i have to do is push them either frontwards or backwards. They are pretty stiff and make some noises but they do fold? Be sure to do this carefully! Be sure that they are 2 piece. The mirror folds, not the bracket coming off of the door.
Hope this helps.

I think Ckehayov is talking about the power folding mirrors. I have heard of them. You would have to press the mirror button back once and they automatically fold back. Pretty sweet. But if that's not working, the old fashion way is the way you're gonna haveto go.

Well I've only had my Jag 4 weeks and it's an X not S type BUT it does have power fold wing mirrors and they are activated by a small button just above the mirror positioning buttons. Would assume that this is were yours would be if you had the option fitted.
By the way HELLO!

Welcome Debbie, where do u live, in europe or the states? cos im pretty sure that only the
X's in europe got the option of the powerfold mirrors due to the small roads and being able to park on the streets. Here in the states they arent really necessary, but i sure as hell would like them on my X, they look sick when folded, and when folding. How are you liking the X so far?

I'm in the UK.
They are essential in UK Supermarket car parks as we brits are getting bigger but the spaces aren't.I love just pressing the button when I park up and watch them tuck themselves away but as I've not had the car very long I have on a couple of occassions driven off without unfolding them, lol, I've gone to check mirrors before pulling out and found myself looking at ME! Power folding mirrors were an option on the S Type. Much more common in UK and Europe. I have seen a couple in Canada and US. If you have them then this is how they operate.
Put the switch that selects which mirror (Divers/passenger side) in the middle position. This normally makes the 4 way switch that moves the mirrors up/down and in/out not work. Then using the 4 way switch push in the direction to fold the mirrors in. This will move both mirrors at the same time and will now fold in all the way. If nothing happens when you do this then you do not have the folding mirror option.
I have read where someone added it to their S Type. The problem is another wire had to be added going into the door. It was thought in the beginning that the feature was there but just had to be enabled by the dealer.

tbird6 is spot on - they were an option and work just like he says. When I got my car the power fold was not working, it took a fair bit of WD40 to get them going again. I took the mirror glass off, the fold motor was quite well corroded, it seems to be made of an alloy that suffers from corrosion. Copious quantities of WD and working the mirrors backwards anf forwards did the trick. Be careful that you don't get the wd on your paintwork, it can damage it.
