Just wanted to post an update on my headlight restoration. Friend of mine followed the YouTube video to a T, as well as restored the headlights and aligned them properly. Now when driving at night I can actually see the road ahead of me, which I can’t say I could before. Lights were also covered with yellow hazing before hand and he restored them like new, as well as putting a clear coat on it to protect it for the future. Quite happy with the results.
Before headlight alignment After headlight alignment Headlight nice and clear now. Was yellow and hazy. Chap at Houston Halo’s restored them and used a clear coat to protect them.
Yes even though the S Type headlights do have lots of problems. I like that a DIY guy can make them look like new with a bit of work!
Looks great and hopefully the clear coat will keep the UV from decaying the lens plastic too.
And a bit of trivia since you have the "R". Note inside the headlight lens the surround is black. Only the R's got that and although other S Type also had a HID headlight option they came with chrome surrounds. If you need to buy a headlight they will be rare!

Well that’s another cool fact I didn’t know about the R I have. I’ll be sure to keep the car safe so I don’t end up needing another headlight. Imagine finding a replacement would be a pain.
That's the funny thing? I tagged a guys rear truck bumper and caught the edge of my fender plus it took out the drivers side head light completely!
Yes I peeled the fender back and almost tore it off the car!
When I started to look for a replacement light I found the black/chrome differences were not well known at all. So no one knew what one was rare or not! I picked up a drivers side headlight for a good price. I am sure the guy had no idea that it was a "R" only part.
On the truck I sideswiped I barely bent the lip of his rear bumper too!
