Default How much torque on Upper A arm bolts.

When I replaced my upper ball joints on my 2005 S- Type, I tightened the A-arm bolts until the arm was stiff, then loosened until "free". Should I go back and retighten them and to what torque?

Thank You,

Jack

They will need to be re-tightened while sitting on the tires or with the weight on the suspension supported by a jackstand.

If you are in a hurry, the JTIS download probably contains the information.

Otherwise, someone who owns a S-Type will probably chime in.

I would also get the JTIS and follow the instructions. It's free on this site.

Default Jtis

I looked at the instructions on the install, and then discovered it covered up to 2004. I ordered a Repair Manual CD on E-Bay that covers up to 2008. I should receive it in about another week. I will post how that turns out.

I have some free time tonight, I will look at installing again.

Thank you

Jack

Hopefully someone who knows for your model and year can get you the answer without waiting for the CD.

Default I found my answer.

I called the service manager at Parretti Jaguar in New Orleans, she connected me to a service tech. He said to use a 17mm end wrench and tighten as tight as I could get it. I ask about a torque value, he said as tight as I could get it.

Tighten all the way because the bolt holds the centre sleeve still and the rubber moves/ stretches with the outer. Which is why you tighten it once weight taken by wheel or jack. Paul
