Default how rare are 2005+ strs

I've been thinking about it Ive only seen one other 2005+ str and that was maybe 5 years ago. I actually followed him because I loved it so much. I've seen quite a few 03 an 04s. Is it just were I am or the 05+ strs are super rare.

There out there I just bought a 2007 with 30,000 miles on it, every option and it looked like it came out of grannys garage not a spot on it. The price was pretty steep but after I drove the car I knew I wasn't going to leave without it. This car is far superior to my 2001 s-type 3.0L there really is no comparison. Try going to Jags website and look under dealers, most have links that can take you directly to thier used inventories. This car IS the shizzle you won't be dissapointed.

Yes the 2005 STR is pretty rare. This is what I have. The problem is there is no demand for them so the values are very low.

The number sold was much larger for 2003 and 2004. The number of sales declined every year after that. The 2008 is almost never seen and has many differences as Jaguar was trying to empty the parts bins.

+1,

Majority of the STR's sold as 03-04's, so those are the most common years, 05's are pretty common as far as facelifted STR's go, but 06+ cars really dwindled in US production numbers to only a few hundred each year, so really rare.

I've noticed STR prices have rebounded recently, locally and on eBay, asking prices have gone up, on clean ones that is.
The lesser examples can still go for wicked cheap though, if you're willing to do some work, but not necessarily saving anything in the long-run either...

Got the World STR production numbers.
I called Jag USA last week. They put me in touch with their Archive dept.
I left a message with my question about STR production.
They are only open 2-3 days a week, I never thought they would bother getting back to me.
Friday morning a nice guy named Mike returned my call,I was really surprised and blown away with this type of customer service.
He said most of the numbers will be for the following year since Jag does its production in the late part of the year preceding the actual sticker model year.
01 for the 02 MY 80
02 for the 03 MY 3925
03 for the 04 MY 1168
04 for the 05 MY 1315
05 for the 06 MY 667
06 for the 07 MY 698
07 for the 08 MY 190
Total 8043.
He did a quick scan and said by his estimate 50% looked like they went to the US.
With 03 numbers quite high it answers why we have so many members with the 03 car.Looks like 02 and 08 are VERY rare. Not even sure if 02 was available in the US.
Hope you enjoy.

Good info, but I'm puzzled. See post #8 here:

Puzzled because some of the wording (about Jag USA) is identical. Can you help?

There is some doubt exactly what the STR production numbers are for. Worldwide or UK only or US only? We have had this posted several times and it's all we have.

Hey Robin,

Post 8 is just a guy picking up my quote and adding the UK production to it.

I saw those replies to my post( on my original thread) and if you noticed most of them promised to refute my numbers by "contacting a friend of a friend of a friend" who knows better and they will get the true numbers. Never saw the answer from so called friend.

Anyway, I made the call and DID the leg work and this is what I was told. I am not going to try and prove what I got. I put up the guys name and gave some proof as to who I spoke with.

I will now pass this on to a better connected member (there is always one out there somewhere) who can trump this. I put this up a few years ago and so far no skeptics have done better with a trail of proof such as a name.

I wish someone would pick up on this topic and make it better. I did all I want to do on the topic.

GO FOR IT, please. I don't come on here much anymore, I will watch for the correct numbers when someone else gets them for us.

Yes it's been discussed before and different numbers do appear.

Here is the earliest list I know of from the UK forum.
Jaguar S Type R production figures

And a few more numbers for the X-Type and total S Type and XJ,XK.
