I'm far from trying to encourage anyone to try this swap, but it could be a fun intellectual excersize. If one had an STR with a blown motor what would a total rebuild cost? There are a lot of Chevy LSx motors out there that could be had for a reasonable cost. Engine, transmission mounts and accessory brakets would have to be fabbed, but that's not insurmountable. I don't know if Painless Wiring or Accel wiring harnesses could be used to match all the sensors.

i am willing to bet i could do it.........it would require alot of fab work though.
Gauges are the easy thing, reform the cluster, and run digital gauges. Wire harness would not be the easiest thing to get around, although, windows and the such could be hardwired. alot of the automatic stuff would be disabled or not working.
At this point, i would say buy a tubular chassis and make your own project out of it. It would actually cost less.
Now if i had an unlimited budget, and someone dared me to do it, im pretty sure i could do it. unlimited budget is the key phrase there. :-)

speaking of which, if i can take the 65 impala body off, and swap in a duramax diesel engine, wire it and get it functioning 100%, i would venture to say it is doable, but it all comes back to the budget.........................the unlimited budget that is.

As stated above, I'll supply at least two SBCs for free, but I'm wondering at this point why we should settle for just two. The tractor pull guys have got 2,3 or more engines, maybe we could show them a few things. Let's start with three engines:

OK... on a serious note.... Here is the epic thread of a user doing just that... Chevy V8 into a 2000 S type...
As I said, epic thread, and as of June of this year, he still had a lot still left to do..

To many electronics getting in the way so swap the motor? That's like buying an m5 and swapping the motor.
The whole reason for buying a 'luxury' car is for all the extras. I get your point for simplicity but buy the time you get the more simple motor and tranny in there you could have bought 2 STR's and been plenty quick.

Long winded useless and negative drivel removed.
No problem with negatives posted either about the car or the brand ( we all have our opinions and are entitled to them ) but, here, its how you argue your case!
