Default Humid air mists windshield when starting car warm

In my 06 STR, when I start it up after it has already been ran within the last several hours, in other words, the engine is still warm, and the climate control is on Auto or Manual mode, I get humid blast of warm air that briefly mists up the windshield.

The air temp quickly goes down as the AC runs and the windshield de-fogs itself.

I am not loosing any coolant so nothing must be leaking around the heater core.

Anyone heard of this or have this issue? Is this normal for this car?

mine does it.... So does the van...

In the summer put it on vent and AC... It will blow hot and humid out of the vents until the compressor catches up...

Be grateful it's not like my Dodge convert.... When I turn on the A/C it smells like old socks......then again it is a 25year old car....

LoL!

Sucks to turn on the car and have it blast you with humid hot air and fog up the window for a minute, especially when it's already really hot in the car like it is during the summer. Not to mention very embarrasing if there is a passenger in the car.

Jeff - tried the anti-bacterial a/c stuff?

Needs squirting into the right place... can be awkward figuring out where.

I've thought about that. Also thought about just cleaning in there, BUT... It's an 85 K car... I'm scared that as soon as I try to take apart anything it will break. We all know how well built those things were. That's what makes it a freak...Most of them fell apart, yet mine survives, all original...
