Listen guys I am gonna replace the weak plastic piece in the gear shift box and wanna upgrade to a stronger more reliable piece of hardware (metal) I have seen a guy who claims to have this metal piece machined to the exact replica of the weak plastic gear shift piece. Anyone ever upgraded to a stronger more reliable piece? Any input would be quite helpful.

The shifter linkage part on the early cars is an issue. Is the new part fairly inexpensive? When I had my car it was a post-03 car so it didn't have the same shifter issues.
It sounds to me like the "pink plastic interlock" on the Chrysler. Those are notorious for breaking without any sign of failure before. There is a metal interlock replacement that is only $30.00.... That reminds me, I really need to get one.
