I am an IDIOT! :)

Or does the "brilliant" Jaguar engineer who decided to design the ability of EVERY modern Jaguar key to be able to lock ANY modern Jaguar, regardless of whether the key belongs to the car or not get a chuckle every time he reads / hears about one of these stories. I supposed no engineer expected any one of us to be dumb enough to own more than one of these cars eh?
I guess warm beer makes you do funny things eh?
Take care,
George

U can reuse the fob for your S-Type, BUT you need to go to the dealer to get the key half and get the remote programmed. S-Types are the only ones you can't program yourself.
Take care,
George

Funny enough Scott Jaguar charged the $60.00 for the green valet key and cut, replaced both switchblades, cut them and programed both FOBs and valet for $182.00. Not to bad I guess.

With so much valuable info floating around, seems like a good time to ask this question:
I was lucky - my Jag came with 2 key fobs - one looks well-worn, the other looks newish. I have been using the newer one, and all is OK, but decided to full-test the other after reading this thread and found that everything is OK except the button to open doors. Just nothing happens.
Changed the battery, still the same, so opened up again and had a look at the small circuit-board. Hope the picture shows what I saw, which is that the metallic click-switch for the door opener is missing.
It's not really a big prblem, but I would fix it if not too expensive. Any ideas?

Let me know either way.

George, that is a great offer. I don't trust my soldering skills on anything that small, so it would be great if I could send it to you.
Email me at mcskalypso@shaw.ca with your address in NJ. My wife just cannot believe that a fellow-forum member on the East coast of the USA is going to repair the Jag's door opener. Thank you!!
