Unhappy I can not open my trunk the battery is dead-help!!!

Two days ago, I reset my brakes by disconnecting the battery but I am afraid I did not hook it up properly and the negative side might have come lose and pop out of place. The battery is in the back of the trunk and the key is not working, the seats can only be fold down by releasing two hooks from inside the trunk, therefore I do not have access to the trunk from the inside of the car.
Somebody just ask me for the default diagram to find a port where a 12V battery can be hook to give power to open the trunk. Does anybody have that diagram or can anybody please tell me a way to open the trunk or what electrical port do I need to look at ???
I called locksmith and they say that they can only brake the lock. I do not want them to do that because I am trying to avoid to go to the dealer after I learned that they charge and arm and leg. Please give your advice on what to do thank you!!!!

Are you putting the key in the keyhole under the letter 'U' on the trunk lid and turning?

You mean cars still have keyholes in their doors and trunks? Who knew? Certainly not my wife or daughter. Without key fobs, they'd be stuck in the driveway 24/7....

It is hard to see, but if you get down and look up you will see it. It is probably covered with years of grime, but it kinda looks like a torx.

On a fun note:

There should be a self-documented "wall of shame". I would need to put my own name on there as well....

Guys, yes the trunk has a hidden place with a whole where you can insert the key. The problem is that my key is not working therefore I can not open the trunk. For those who do not know where the key hole on the truck is please see the video: Jaguar S Type how to open trunk if battery is dead Jaguar Hilton Head - YouTube.
Is there a way to open the trunk if the key do not work and the seats do no not fold???

If you search "what not to do" you'll find a post by me discribing how to remove the rear seat in about 10 min with simple hand tools. Once you can get into the truck you should be able to find and pull the child saftey release.

I am not sure what you mean? The key will not turn in the lock? It is completely mechanical so no power is needed.

That's OK I had to call the dealer. So leave room on there for me as well.

What about the main key on your remote fob? That should work as noted above. You didn't indicate if you tried the trunk release button although with a dead battery it probably won't work.

Wow, you sure do get defensive with this whole internet based sarcasm. Get a grip....no ones trying to beat up your man-hood.

By the way, you only have a valet key? Maybe post more information next time rather than just say my key won't open the lock. Don't get so discouraged so easily.

My wall signature would come from the fact that I installed a new clock spring without setting it so the turn signals would work. I put the whole steering assembly together 3 times before I saw the clearly posted instructions on setting the clock spring right on the face of the clock spring! I mean how stupid I was to not read it when it was staring at me the whole time. And here I was cursing Jag out the whole time.

This is a good example of how non-aggressive messages can inadvertently take on the wrong tone. 'Smilies' can help but only to a limited degree.

For the OP: the valet key is not intended to work in the trunk or glove box- that's the whole purpose of the special key cut. If you don't have a proper driver's key, now's the time to get one. You 'got off lucky' this time

Talking Trunk Specialist Here ...

I don't think eds123 post was inadvertent.

That being said he might just be correct.

I asked further questions of the op because on mine it's difficult to insert the key and it doesn't turn all that well but it DOES open the trunk.

I'm having a repeated electrical gremlin at the moment so I've had to disconnect the battery and close the trunk repeatedly.

Peace & Love to everyone ...

ps I have no idea what a hopping bunny with a pancake represents. It just looked silly ...

Come on, you guys don't think a search here would come up with why a bunny has a pancake on its head?!

Default Still clueless?

There's a link on there (doesn't work) but nothing explains it?

Let me guess, it's related somehow to IHOP?
