Default I don't need no stinkin' coolant!

Great, just great...Come to a stoplight, smell something burning, see smoke coming from under my hood...See the red dummy light and the info screen reads low coolant...I was about a mile from where I wanted to park...I was gawking at the temp gauge needle like it was a Tom Brady's wife Gisele, the needle never moved...Pop the hood, the tank was replaced about a month ago and appeared to have a good level of coolant...Smoke seemed to be coming from closer to the firewall side of the engine vs the front...Any initial ideas? Did I gets blessed with a XMas miracle of the under the S/C leak?

You make it sound like burning and smoke rather than coolant, which is basically water..... Are you sure it's coolant?

No heat, so I assumed DCCV related...Mechanic #1 looked at it, determined the DCCV was leaking but refused the job...It's at mechanic #2 which requires a $40 pressure test before they touch coolant leaks...Hopefully the DCCV is the sole source...

It gets worse...It's BOTH the under the supercharger leak and the DCCV...Ugh...

Eventually we all must face the under blower leak...sorry Bacardi, at least she's not toast. Yer not alone, my 03 STR will be coming off the road for the winter and the same for her too.

Parts from Nalley, including gaskets and a total of 4 hoses (just in case something else seems to be going) was $127...Surprisingly cheap...

Question, has anyone with hot air 3lbs pulley NOT had this hose fail? I assume it would fail anyways, but wonder if the pulley accelerates the failure...

The under blower coolant hose is independent of blower. It's simply coolant returning after passing through throttle body. Otherwise, the blower doesn't directly affect pressure within coolant circuit. Agree, $127 is ok for all four hoses and gaskets.

Got it...So, after some questioning of the #2 who refused to do the work (and after I ordered parts) they admitted they're not sure which hose it was coming from...Therefore, it may only be the DCCV...There is no heat on either side...

Agree, likely DCCV.

turns out it's officially the under the supercharger leak; it's on that thicker coupler on the hose...What is strange is that the thermostat is frozen open...Guess I'm going to get a new one and hope that the thermo and hose fix the problem...

I had a feeling it may be when you said it was near the firewall.

Good luck.

Your gasket cost seem too low?? I have everything ready if I need to replace that hose on my 2005 STR. I have a good bit more money in gaskets. Maybe I purchased too many?
