I HATE JAGUAR . . . . . . .
I hate Jaguar, the manufacturer “not the car” .
Nothing but trouble with replacing my brakes. YOU CANNOT BUY AFTER MARKET FRONT PADS FOR A
2006 S-Type 3.0 – they do not exist ‘PartsTrain-O-Reily Auto-NAPA-The Parts Bin-AutoPart Warehouse ETC”.
They do not exist, at least not for my car.
I have sent back FOUR sets of pads in the past month.
I do not know why Jaguar decided to make the 2006 S-type 3.o a one of a king. If it was a 2005 or previous year, no problem.
I have to stop by my Jaguar dealer tomorrow and pick up a set of over priced front factory pads. $171 for the set. AAAGGHHHH.
I purchase a set of EBC Redstuff , the end of last year I put on the rear.
And I found out how to get the calibers back in “without any special tools” I did this because there are no tools out there.
This has been a learning experience.
Now my Yellow and Red Lights are coming on saying “NO EMERGENCY BREAKS” . I think when I put the front ones
on “I have the old one’s on now, NO I AMNOT Driving the Car”. I will bleed the brakes and see if that era message goes away.

RE: I HATE JAGUAR . . . . . . .
Just got back from Jaguar to buy the over priced pads. Shop tech "jaguar" tells me I HAVE TO REPLACE
MY ROTORS WHEN REPLACING THE PADS. Is this true?
Took the front set "of Rotors" to Brake Check and they turned them.
They could turn the rear ones "not enough metal , They Claim".
Tech at Jaguar said The RotorsCannot Be Turned.Who is Telling the Truth [sm=headbang.gif]
Does anyone know If you can turn the Rotors andwhat the Thickness of the Rotors- before they cannot turn them?
Front and Rear
And a C-CLAMP would not work in my case [sm=badidea.gif]. . .what did work alot better was a crankshaft pulley.
Worked like a charm.
Oh and H20Boy the Akebonos where complety wrong fit. Called PartsTrain and they said the pads
i got where for a 2006 s-type 3.0. I told them no way , they where not even the same size.
They said they showed another set for my car that would fit. I said thanks but no thanks.
Five sets of ordering the wrong pads was my limit.
These are the ones I need.
THANKS

RE: I HATE JAGUAR . . . . . . .
Man, sorry for the unfortunate luck you are having with these brakes. I wish I could help ya. Buy new rotors yourself (not from Jag) if the measurements do come up too thin? buy the pads from the dealer (or jag parts seller)?

RE: JAGUAR RULES . . . . . . .
Well I agree, in a previous post, by JFT that you shouldn'tturn you rotors.
Second, Idon't think you need new rotors only if drive that car hard, then I would believe it, come on, a 06 needed rotors,, ppppufffff, yeah right.I would get another shops opinion, take it to an all brakes shop.
About the brake pads I will see if I can help in finding them.

RE: JAGUAR RULES . . . . . . .
THANKS H2ObOY, BAD MOJO & SUPER JAG, YOUR HELP and ADVICE IS ALWAS TAKEN.
I DO NOT GET IT cadillac . . . . . ?
MY TECH IS PUTTING THE FRONT BREAK'S ON AS I TYPE.
HERE IS THE WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED
FRONT BRAKES: NEW JAGUAR PADS & TURNED THE ROTORS. THE ORIGINAL PADS WHERE DOWN
TO ABOUT 80% "20% PAD LEFT"
REAR BRAKES: NEW EBC RED STUFFS & DID NOT TURN THE ROTORS . THERE IS A SMALL LIP
ON THE OUTER SECTION OF THE ROTORS. BUT THE ORIGINAL PADS WHERE ONLY WORNABOUT
30% "70% PAD LEFT".
MY RATIONALIZATION IS THIS
THE TIME IT TAKE'S THE THE REAR PADS TO WEARPREMATURELY, THE FRONT PADS
WILL STILL HAVE MORE PAD LIFE.
NOW MY "WARNING LIGHT" AND WARNING THAT SAYS "YOU HAVE NO EMERNGEY BRAKES"
THE JAGUAR TECH SAYS THAT IS NORMAL WHEN CHANGING OUT THE BREAKS. "YEH THE SAME ONE
THAT SAID I NEEDED TO CHANGE MY ROTORS" . HE SAID TO ENGAGE AND DIS-ENGAGE MY
EMERCENCY LEVEL FIVE TIMES AND THAT SHOULD RESET THE MEASAGE
TAKEN THE JAGUAR HOME TONIGHT, I WILL RIDE IT AROUND THE BLOCK A FEW TIME'S BEFORE
HITTING THE HIGHWAY.
THANKS ALL.
WILL LET YALL KNOW HOW IT DRIVES.
PS: NO ONE MENTIONED MY RED PAINT JOB ON MY PAD HOLDERS [sm=bounceybounce.gif]

RE: JAGUAR RULES . . . . . . .
Sry about your unfortunate issues with the brakes. We all are jag owners here and know these things are high maintenance sometime and questionable reliability at best...but you buy it cause it's a Jag. If you want cheap repairs and low maintenance, let me suggest the Ford Focus.
With regard to the rotors...I have 98500 miles on my Jag and4 brake jobs...I manage to do them all myself using a repair manual. Had the Rotors turned once my last time at 84,000 miles or so. I took the rotors to O'Reilley's and they turned them for $8 each. They will measure them and give you specs also. If you don't have an O'Reilley's near by...you can probably get a local shop to help you for cheap.
So you can still save money either way. Don't let the dealer fool you into thinking it's Rocket Science. Jag did make a lot of the maintenance tough, but brakes you can do..lol

RE: JAGUAR RULES . . . . . . .
MY "YOU HAVE NO EMERGENCY" WARNING IS STILL COMING ON. AND I HAVE NO EMERGENCY BRAKES.
NO BIGGY ,BECAUSE I GOT PLENTY OF STOPPING POWER. JUST TOOK IT FOR A TEST SPIN.
MY QUESTION IS THIS: COULD I HAVE SCREWED THE REAR CALIBERS IN TO FAR. I DID GET THEM PRETTY
SNUG. IS THIS WHY MY EMERGENY BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING, MAYBE I HAVE TO LOOSEN THEM UP?
FREDDY2121 I DID "ENDING UP" TAKING MY BRAKES TO O-REILLY , THEY WHERE THE ONE'S WHO SAID THEY
COULD NOT TURN THE REAR ONES.
I HAVE OWNED 'IN THE PAST TWO YEARS" BMW-MERCEDES-INFINTY AND YES I UNDERSTAND
THE MAINTANENCE THAT IS REQUIRED BY THESE HIGH END VEHICLES.
MY ISSUE IS NOT THE JAGUAR AND WAS NOT WITH THE REPAIR OF IT 'WHICH I DID MY-SELF
ALONG WITH MY TECH". MY ISSUES WAS THE LACK OFAFTER MARKET PARTS FOR MY PARTICULAR JAGUAR.
AND THE LACK OF INTELLECTURAL ADVICE I RECIVED FROM MY LOCAL DEALER.THEY NEVER GIVE ME A
STRAIGHT ANSWER, WHICH IS WHY I VISIT THIS SIGHT.
BUT EVEN AFTER ALL IS SAID , MY NEXT ONE WILL BE A R
