Importing US STR to Canada?? NE1 Done it?
After loving my 2004 V6 S-Type, I am struggling to resisit the urge to move up to the STR...
Looking at something like this:
http://autos.yahoo.com/used-cars/jag...-cars374399466?
Looking at the prices here in Canada, I think I would be much better off purchasing one in the States and bringing it over he border, however I am a little scared about a recent call to the local Jag dealership about this very issue.
Apparently, getting it over the border is the easy bit, pay my 5% duty at the border and away I go, however, trying to get the vehicle registered in Alberta is a slightly more involved and expensive process.
Apparently Jag is the only ones who can do the 'Out of Province' inspection (at great cost, sure she said $750) before they will release the 'Recall Clearance' letter which I need apparently to register the beast.
According to them, any window tinting = fail
any window chips = fail
etc etc
This is in addition to Day time running light adjustments and french airbag stickers etc
Just wondering if any of the members here have gone through this process and is it really as bad as it sounds and what was the final $$$ damage?
Thanks

Thanks Jagv8, you never know, I guess if the question has never been posed, then the answers could still be out there, kinda like the X Files......
Where abouts in Yorkshire are you from, I am from Middlesbrough originally, been over here in the frozen tundra for just over 4 years.

How come you selling it if I may ask? You put a lot stuff into it but hey whatever the reason may be, you will regret selling it later on ; unless you are upgrading to an XFR,lolz.
