Default Intercooler pump blowing fuses

Hello all,
Well, the other day the wife called me because RP popped up on her way to work. I dropped by and scanned it, no code. Okay, decided to run it a bit, off/on a few times and it went away. However, today, I had the car as I had to drive her in and guess what, popped up RP again. This time I scanned it before I turned it off and got a P1474. Now, as some of you may or may not remember, a few years ago (like 4 or 5) I had this exact same code and ended up changing the intercooler pump and replacing the fuse. All was good until now. So first thing I checked was the fuse, it was blown. Okay, only had a spare 10A so I put it in. RP went away and was fine, until I headed out to my parents (since I don't have a garage!) to fix some odds and ends and RP came again. As soon as I got there, checked the fuse, blown. Okay, it was a 10A anyway and it needs a 15A. Got a 15, put it in, started it and revved a bit, still had RP. Checked the fuse, blown. Okay, I decided to try a 30A just to see what would happen. Started, revved and then checked it. Now, it wasn't blown, but was burning hot and looked like it was starting to go. So, my conclusion is the pump is pulling too much current for some reason, time to replace it. I guess there might be a internal short or something. The original pump lasted til about 80,000 miles, the replacement was a used one from a car with about 50,000 miles. I'm currently at 135,000 miles so I guess this pump has reached the end of its life!
Also, I'm going to get the Bosch 0392022010 pump (one for Mercedes), which I know flows a bit better, and is much cheaper!
How's my logic and plan sounding? Is there something else I should be looking at too?

All I would add is make sure the air is bled out of the intercooler system.

Well, the Bosch pump is definitely the least expensive of them all, and I understand is a direct fit. But have seen a few negative comments about it.

I got an intercooler coolant pump fom Europarts, cost more than Bosch but (much) less than Jaguar, and has a much higher flow rate. Needed a one-off bracket to fit the STR, however, because was really designed for the XJR, but has been great for the last 6 months.

From what I understand the Bosch one is a good fit and works well. Now there are two different ones that people seem to have used on their XJ/XK/S-type R's, one is the 010 pump and the other is the 002. From my research it seems the 010 one is the better one, I even saw Avos say it'll work and is probably the best choice for an upgrade. If he says it's okay, that's all I need to hear!

I too think highly of Avos, and I'm sure the Bosch will be OK. I bought the Europarts pump because it was advertised as having a 30-50% higher flow rate than any other. Since the main purpose is to cool the supercharger, it made sense. Here's what I saw on a Mercedes SLK forum a while back...

The oem Bosch IC pump fails way too often. It is used in the SLK32, C32 and Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 (same AMG 32 engine and trannie). Forums are full of posts of the Bosch pump failing at 20,000 to 30,000 miles.

Well, I guess I'll find out how long it'll last! I've already ordered it so that's that. I did look at the Eurotoys one, but figured I would give this one a try. Seems like it works great, just maybe not for as long as one would like, but it may last for years. I take most cases of premature part failure with a grain of salt, do my own research, and then decided. For example, I know everyone on here with an STR has pretty much had to change the coolant hose under the blower, some at low miles and I believe its considered a failure point. That being said, when I did mine just cause I was in there anyway it was perfect after 125,000 miles.
But for all I know, this thing could fail just like other ones. I guess I'm a gambling man!
Also, is that the 002 pump or the 010 pump failing? I seem to recall hearing about the 002 one having more issues than the 010, but I could be wrong.
