Wait, they don't go out even after 15 mins when the circuit is supposed to time out if you leave a door / trunk whatever open?

Do you have any door / trunk open warning messages on the car? Initially one would think the most likely culprit would be a failed pin switch, so the car thinks that the door / trunk is open, but even then they should go out after 15 mins, when the battery saving mode kicks in.

Let me know and we will go from there.

yes they did go out after 15-20 mins - i suspect it might have been because it has been so cold here the switch may have frozen up.

Do they go out when you start and drive the car?

they didn't, but after a 4 hour drive they do now. i assume some sort of electrical gremlin. every so often i get a restriced performance / engine light which the jag dealers tell me is a wiring fault somewhere between the glovebox and the front bumper - however at £150 an hour its a fault i can live with!

Good articles on www.jaguarforum.co.uk about removing the bumper and where to look for likely harness damage plus repair it. Quite a few months ago but Search should find it. (There are pics about bumper removal here too but don't mention powerwash in case you have it.)

Hi George

i have this problem, just pop up this afternoon.
my trunk warning light kept on lighting up (mentioning open trunk) is there a sensor somewhere? or where the pin switch is at.
thanks

Pin switch is on the trunk lid itself, on the right side of the bottom edge. It will be fairly obvious when you open the trunk, but here's a pic. It shows ground when trunk is open, open circuit when it's not.

Take care,

George

According to the wiring diagrams, it has a rear trunk ajar switch which connect to the rear electronics module. Look around the trunk edge they may have moved the pin switch in the later years.
