Intermittent Rough Accelerations

I haven't driving my 2000 3.0 S-type for several weeks (to icy and cold). I then drove it 2 days ago and I noticed intermittent rough acceleration usually between 35-60 mph. I also notice at idle, the car sometimes has intermittent (once every 10 seconds but not consistently) drop in RPMs which you can feel.
Any idea what is causing this (I'm assuming that both issues are relate)? What is the fix?
Thanks in advance.

sounds like you need to change one of your ignition coils. if your check engine light is on, then you can use a scanner which will tell you which cylinder is misfiring and which ignition coil to replace. a quick stop at AutoZone, haha, and they will scan your vehicle for free and you can also buy the ignition coils there. they're the same ones as a Lincoln LS and cost around $48.00. replacing them isn’t that hard and takes less then an hour for your first time, there should be a post on here on how to do it with some pictures.

I've had exactly the same problem in my 2001 V8 S the past week or so. Idle jumps around intermittently at the stop light (and in Neutral too), feels like the car is juddering and acceleration is rough from 30-60. I don't have a check engine light, any idea how to test to find the coil that isn't working?

Thanks for the info. My check engine is light is already on due to a catalytic converter issue so I will have to check to see if has additional codes. I have an OBDII but I loaned it to my nephew so I will check when I get it back.
BTW, should I change all the spark plugs as well? What are the recommend plugs for a 2000 3.0? What is the gap?
