Jag misfire and surging idle
Hi everyone and I'm really excited to be part of the forum. I've read many issues here and haven't seen any post that would satisfy an answer for my problem.
My 02 jag s type 3.0 automatic tranny has been an excellent car until recently. I purchased the car a little over 7 months ago and I must say it was in immaculate condition, inside and out. The issue im experiencing is the surging rpm idle and misfire from 2nd to 3rd gear. The check engine light was on when i took the car to be smoged, and thats where I got the code P0153. The code indicates a bad 02 sensor. I've yet to have this sensor replaced because I wanted to know if there was anything I should be aware of before replacing the sensor unnecessarily. Thanks for any help and i anxiously look forward to some help.

Thanks so much for the response. I will go ahead and replace the sensor and post back whether the issue was resolved or not.
