I'm guessing he's on the quest for more sound volume ,and a couple more HP , but I noticed He mentioned bypassing the throttle body in another post !
Witch threw me ! now I'm not sure what the plan is here. May be just for a pod filter
Or may be a turbo is on the cards ?

Getting rid of the airbox in the manner described also means losing the cold air intake. The car will go slower, not faster.

Worse performance due to the heat.

Worse filtering.

No more power.

Just noise.

After 7 years here... this is not a first.

The blue pleated thing needs to be OUTSIDE the engine compartment!!!!!!!!!!!(or at least draw air from outside like the OEM box)

Cooler air is denser air.

come on guys give the boy some inspiration , don't tell him he's done rong , maybe tell him how to make it better , and i will agree with him the stock air box has too manny right angle turns in it and a pod will flow better !!! now driven you need to extend the pod over to the corner away from the radiator behind the head light for the cold air that leaks through, and you need this heat devider from mina gallery and as you can see (lower photo) so do i

mine came like this exept i made the j pipe , and i will say i watch the intake air temps on dash command (app) and the only time it sucks hot air is when you are stationary
mine has the original cold air duct blowing on the under side of the pod filter, and altho the intake air temps rise substantially when parked at traffic lights or the such, the temps fall very quickly above 20kph , within one minute at highway speed it will match the out side temp !
maybe also look out for a str cold air duct and add it to the divider !

Thanks Datsports for your input and you have a beautiful setup!!! It's nice to see someone that isn't afraid to and skilled enough to improve their setup.

Those other guys must be noobs to not know the stock systems are restricting airflow. This is just modding 101

I'd suggest taking back to the store for a refund.

Much smarter members than you and I did this mod years ago and found that there's no actual HP gain. As much as you might think the design was restrictive, Jaguar's own numbers indicate that the losses with stock set up were a whopping 2 HP.

If you enjoy the noise and appearance that's great.

Draven, even though you failed to punctuate it as such, I think most interpreted "What do you think" as a question, and several answered-up. Generally, this community is very supportive of a member's right and privilege to mod his/her own car as he/she sees fit, even if the mods are not deemed tasteful by a few or even many. I think you see that here; several comments of , "if you like the noise and looks, congrats, roll on..."
But it is also a very technical community, and if you make claims of increased performance, you need to be prepared to substantiate your claims.

Lastly, you invited everyone to share their opinions... so don't get butt-hurt if everyone doesn't share the same enthusiasm for your modification.

draven these guys are not noobs ! there is MASSIVE knowledge on this forum , defiantly read around and learn as much as you can ,there is a wealth of it here .
but if you are going to ask for opinions then you have to take what comes !
these guys are generally nothing but help full . like i said mine came like this with the pod fitted .i like the look and the sound and like how it is not paper and is washable.so it stays !
I have no data on before and after power! or temps. i figured maybe it might make 2-4hp from the pod if it has cold air inlet witch mine does, as the j pipe apparently can make above 9hp at the wheels of a str after swapping it with the plastic muffled j pipe witch is purely a flow thing , and figured two extra right angles through a box can't possibly help but have not tested , i was surprised to read above tested is only 2hp but I'm guessing thats with a flat pannal k&n in the air box as apposed to the pod , the pod i have is supposed to be able to feed an 800hp engine but ill bet thay put one on each turbo of maybe a quad turbo v8 800hp for the test for advertising reasons,
any way after i posted the other night i purchest the mina gallery divider $270nzd delivered or $160usd with out fraight and i will plum the cold air induct to the side of the divider and see what it does hopefully it will help for when I'm parked using a/c , man its hot here at mo!

buy all means hot your car up or keep it standard, i for one am keen to watch any progress on your car or anyones even visual enhancements . do some graphs of before and after mods on dynolishious (app) its a pretty good hp gauge.then you will know for sure .

up date , fitted the mina gallery intake kit ,
didn't realize that the kit included hardware (stainless hose clamps) , pod filter , piping connections, rubber sleeves, a hole new alloy with billet maf sensor attachment tube , the divider and top rubber seal. very nice indeed. i didn't like how the powder coated panel would have been chafing away at the eng bay paint , so i slit some 3mm rubber vacuum tubbing and ran it around the perimeter of the panel and that sealed the bottom of the panal to the chassis beam , i then ran a bead of automotive radiator foam around the front and rear edge and a strip across the strut tower to completely seal the box!
i need to purchases a 3-3.5'' right angle duct to run from the grill cold air duct in to the side of the divider in witch i will have to cut a hole in the panel ,that went on the to do list for now ,at the moment it is drawing air from the existing hole under and in front of the filter that goes threw to the under guard and from the head light mounting hole , both are fresh air inlets well away from any heat source, the results are no change at speed wot so ever witch i kind of expected as it will never run below ambient temps , but defiantly slows the idle heat soak issue considerably, air intake temps used to climb until they reached the coolant temp of 96 degrease Celsius stationary after idling for 15min - 20min , now it won't budge past 50 degrease Celsius IAT at idle stationary same time stand , over 40 degrees difference , nice ! it also looks a lot tidier ,
very happy with the results ,

just pulled up from highway ambient was 17d/c this was after i had run the temps up as far as they would go and had traveled home so pics are round the rong way , no biggie

this was with the divider in . after 20min idling without the divider intake was matching coolant by this time , never knew i had a problem !as I've never had an air box since i purchased the car . as i have read many threads about heat soak so i thought that was normal. obviously not !
