Unhappy jag trunk button not working

I have 01 s type , The jag button in the center of the truck and the dash button in the drivers seat that should electronically open the truck has stopped working. Key remote switch opens the truck just fine. Using the key in the truck opens the truck. I looked for bad fuses, none . I give up any idea's guys or gals .

Ok, this is going to sound silly obvious, but it happened to me. Had the dealer laughing. Look in the glove box for a button that says "Valet". Press it, then try your trunk. It should work fine.

Is your valet button pressed inside the glove compartment?

That Valet button saved me 1000 dollars when I bought my first jag. It was an 01 and I told the salesman that I would have to take it in to figure out why the trunk doesn't open. (I knew it was the valet button)

So what to do when it is not the Valet button? The remote and inside button works fine, just not the one on the trunk itself. Any ideas? Could it be a blown fuse?

it may need a new button on the trunk then. Check the wires that run down the passenger side of the trunk lid they are for the button and lights, it may have become unplugged. check to see if your license plate lights work.

good luck.

Default It just happened to me too!

Thanks guys! I thought I was going to have to bring it in for repairs. I thought that I blew a fuse, and I didn't see one that was blown. So, I checked the forum, and EUREKA!! ha! I'm 6-2, I didnt even know that button was there.

Ok, I have a trunk related question, and I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I think it's appropriate here.

When my car is locked, I can just press the button on the trunk and open my trunk. Shouldn't this lock when the car is locked, regardless of the position of the valet switch? I mean, if my car is locked, I don't want anyone going into my trunk either, but sometimes I like to use the button on the trunk instead of the keychain.

Any thoughts?

Ah, but if you lock the car, then smash the window and push the button does it still do that?

(ahem. try double locking aka deadlocking - see the handbook, and if you want to experiment leave the window open)
