Default Jaguar Bites Man - Patient still critical

I think I mentioned the electric lock/unlock situation before. The button on the dash is hard to find and it's a cycle style so it may lock all doors or unlock the remaining doors. Your guess. Stupid!

So last night when I picked up my wife I leaned over and manually unlocked the door via the mechanical button. What a lovely surprise! The chrome had peeled off a bit on the back side and it cut my thumb open.

Blood everywhere. We drove directly to the local ER where I required 14 gallons of blood ... The thumb is still a possible amputation candidate!

So I checked the backside of the drivers side and it too has rough edge. I think they're plastic too? It really did take a small chunk out of my thumb. OK, a really small piece

GD fxxxxen lock buttons on the doors!

Glad you enjoyed it. I wonder if I can find some decent lock buttons?

I don't really have an answer for you on that, can only recommend trying online, like "Mina Gallery", maybe. Thats not a object usually looked for. Goodluck.

I usually just pull the handle on the drivers side just small bit not enough to open it just that little bit of slack it has will unlock all the doors. I do it so much I have it down to where I dont open the door or anything just a quick little move and then unlock with no cuts or bruises. Hope you heal up. Those cats will stratch when you play with them.

I can tell you first hand that I wanted to use either one of my cars for target practice but ended up fixing them. I still think it would be fun!

I was thinking that I was alone with the peeled of Chrome on the back of that lock handle but no!

But my cat has never been mean to me and bit me

I was thinking to use some glue and stick it back.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Rizwan

Both of mine bite and the dealer wants $140 apiece (part only) IF they can get them. The top portion (lock) of the handle is plastic the bottom actual handle is metal. The chrome coating doesn't stick to the plastic like it does the metal portion. Hence the problem, bought some "chrome" tape online, peeled and trimed back the peeling razor blade and covered the plastic part. Looks better than before (not perfect) and no more bleeding issues.

Bob, You scared me for a second... I thought OH NO the hockey puck thing went astray...

All our cars are doing it... Didn't realize it could get sharp cause I never really manually / lock unlock.

Have a read here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...light=spitfire

Oh I'd add that to the warranty list!

Take care,

George

Ouch, Bob... Sorry 'bout that. Thought it was common knowledge. They all do it.

Unfortunately, it is NOT covered under the Select Edition Warranty.. Remember? No trim parts...

It was covered under the orginal new car warranty, but since that was 4 years or 50k, I think all but a handful of 07's and 08's are still covered..

I'd take Mafioso up on his offer and just get a couple of used ones. No indication that the $140 dealer parts are any better.. Might have better luck with some used ones that are holding up...

My Jaguar uses an intermediary to bite me. My wallet. They are in cahoots I tells you! In a much more sensitive place than the thumb too.....

No way guy. My attorney says I need to preserve that for the lawsuit. The septicemia has set in and it's awful painful.

If that stupid women got a million from McDonalds for hot coffee in her lap then what's a gangrenous thumb that has to be amputated worth?

I mean how was I to know ...
