Jim,
The serial number is specific to that particular module in front of you. Something is wrong if you find another module with that serial number.
Before replacing the module, have you worked through the troubleshooting guide?:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ol-how-185002/
2003+ cars have a known issue where a bad DCCV can overload and damage the control module. If you only replace the control module, the new one can be damaged by the old DCCV. More details in the guide above, post #2.
If unable to find a replacement module, consider having your existing module repaired:
https://jaguarclimatecontrol.com/
He also includes an upgrade to add fuse protection to prevent future damage.

Many Thanks for the reply. I did note somewhere on the web that the DCCV valve has to be replaced prior to replacing the control module.
So, if I find a replacement with Part No. 4R8318C612FG, that will work on my car after I replace DCCV? There are so many different part numbers, some with just one letter different. I will show the link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ol-how-185002/ to my Tech guy.
Thanks again
Jim

There's no factory info for us, as the dealer protocol for a bad module was to replace it with new and install the appropriate software. They'd never install a used module from another car, so Jaguar never provided any detail about what would and wouldn't work. It's a real can of worms with no clear answer, other than an exact match is usually good.
As far as replacing both the module and DCCV, I forgot to ask what symptoms were you experiencing? Was it the common max heat at all times? After checking some prerequisites, this fault usually points to a bad DCCV. And on 2003+ models, a bad DCCV often damages the control module. Just wanted to make sure I was sending you down the correct path.

Manual mode is when you drive the selected temperature up until HI is displayed, or down until LO is displayed. Manual mode bypasses some (but not all) automatic features and is very helpful for troubleshooting.
Reading between the lines, you may have a second problem with the automatic control. The troubleshooting guide is laid out in order to first verify the DCCV is operating properly, and then you move on to any remaining symptoms. Even though you're having a shop do the work, you can still do some of the troubleshooting yourself ahead of time. Most of the diagnostics are pretty simple, such as push a button, go for a test drive, and watch the thermometer.
