JAGUAR S TYPE R Zimmerman Brake Rotor
Hello,
Quick questione will they fit my Jaguar S TYPE R from 2004 with VIN SAJAA03S741N07607 ?
From what I have seen the only thing that does not match is the outer diameter and height.

General opinion is that the earlier Brembo brake setup, whilst very pretty, does not perform as well as the later ATE setup.
Suggested reasons vary, but one line of reasoning is that the Brembo calipers are not very rigid and flex under heavy use, this can lead to warped discs.
My 2004 XJR has the Brembos, my 2006 STR has the ATE's, all I can say is that with new discs on both, EBC yellow stuff pads and fresh fluid, the ATE's have much better pedal feel and seem to offer more stopping power ?

I've lost count of the posts regarding the two brake brands.
I wouldn't call any high performance Brembo brake 'garbage'.
The only real way to determine which one would outperform the other? Find two near identical cars with identical tyres, identical age tyres, identical fuel in each cars tank, identical brake fluid, identical brake hoses, identical condition dampers, identical condition springs, identical condition wishbones, original Brembo rotors in the Brembo brake car and original rotors that came with the ATE car, same driver, same day, same temperature, you get the drift.....
A meaningless exercise as they're both premium set up's. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at the meeting when Jaguar decided to make the change.
They're a bit noisy when cold sometimes but I'd have the Brembo's any day.

When i asked on my topic why, people told me it's the system itself. master cyl and abs module are better in the facelift.
The vented rear ones on a 2006+ str are the same like the rear ones on a diesel, or a XF. its just some good working regular brakes.
It would be awesome for someone to fit the brembos calipers on a facelift that comes with the ate calipers... wonder if they would feel better

i’ve seen it done on an 06 with the mk60 and they threw in the towel immediately. took the knuckles off and went to the 380s
again they flat out suck. even the vanquish with 2 piece rotors and vented rears is beyond terrible.

My two cars are as close a comparison as I can do in the 'real world' and the ATE's win hands down.
I have been selling Jaguars since 2002 and we used to have a lot of issues with customer complaints with the Brembos warping discs.
Far more qualified people than myself have stated that the calipers are not 'rigid' enough.
When Jaguar swapped over to the ATE setup, they told us it was due to improved braking, not for cost reasons.
Make of that what you will.........................................
