Jaguar S type Suspension front/Rear

Jaguar S type Suspension front/Rear
I have a 2003 S type 3.0, Question about fron and rear suspensions.
I have no elecronic damper on the car.
Is the Front a Strut or a Shocks?
Is the Rear A strut or Shocks?
Reason I'm askins is because I see coil springs on four sides.
My symtoms are uneven threads on the tires some higher than the other, and a humming sounds when driving at cruising speed, after the test drives by 2 mechanics, both says it the shocks, my concern is the first mechanic says it overall shocks, but the second mechanic says it's all around struts, which one is it?
I called the dealer and gave him my vin number, he says it's all around shocks even if they have spring coils.
You help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Different folk have different names for the same item.
Down here it is "shockers" with "coil over technology".
Again, down here, struts have the "wheel bearing spindle" as part of the assembly.
The humming is more than likely the tyres. I had that here with Yokohama on the XJ12, and by swapping the wheels from side to side on the same axle, which effectively runs the tyre backwards, all was quite for a while, but it returned, so swapped again, until I wore them out.
Scuffing of tyres is a wheel alignment issues USUALLY. Worn shockers can cause it, and is usually associated with a "bouncy" ride, as apposed to a firm/controlled ride with good shocks.
An 03 is 9 years old now, and some of the many, many rubber bushes of the suspension assemblies, would be showing signs of wear by now, and maybe one is a tad more "slack" than the others. That may also contribute to the tyre issue.
