jaguar stype 2001 autodimming mirror malfunction and the abs braking fault
guyz i have a jaguar s type 2001 with auto dimming mirror.
the mirror is not operating as it should i.e it doesnt auto dim the compass also doesnt shows me any thng but a black part
the green led doesnt comes on if the switch is pressed...the screen was replaced and i assume the mechanics didnt connect the mirror wiring.. moreover the auto headlamps are working well..pls help me in this regard..
the brakes also malfunction.. the brake paddle produces a pulsating affect even when the paddle is slightly pressed at speeds less than 20kmph and a shredding sound and the steering too feels the vibrating affect..
at speeds above 120kmph for eg 160kmph..suddenly the dsc light comes on along with the abs one which goes off then after restarting the engine..
Your guidance and quick response shall be highly appreciated.. please email me the content at

Mikey is dead on with the build up of pad material on the rotors - keep in mind if this repair does not cure the pulsating affect your rotor(s) could be warped as well. This is very common on the S Types.
As far as the DSC and ABS lights coming on and going off - there is clearly an intermitient fault. (Sounds like it could be one of the abs wheel sensors) - you can obtain the intermitient code(s) with an OBDII reader that has the ability to read the abs module computer.
There could be other intermitient faults related to the DSC/ABS system such as the ABS pump, module fault, etc - best bet is to get it checked out sooner than later.

Nd what abt the mirror.. Is it possible that the mirror isnt connectd nd the headlamp n other sensors r independnt of it.

Sounds like the mirror is not connected or whomever attempted to replace the screen (I don't think those auto dim rear mirrors have any servicable parts) messed something up inside the unit but check for the connection first. (backside of mirror - little connector) All other lights are independent of the mirror.
As far as you connecting to the computer - "some data missing" - I need more info.

As far as the DSC and ABS - as I said before - you need to get an OBD II reader that has the ability to pull the code(s) in the ABS module. (DSC system controlled by the ABS module)

I can offer the following solutions:
1) Check connector with a voltmeter to ensure you have voltage going to the mirror. (If no voltage then possibly there is a blown fuse)
2) Purchase a replacement mirror assembly (get the correct one cause I'm confused if you have the auto dimming function or not - check Ebay) - I believe all S Types had the auto dimming function...
I really think your mirror isn't functioning due to whomever opening up the mirror assembly and screwing something up inside.

the screen was detached from a s type and then it was fixed into mine.
my vehicle actually came with a manual mirror (without the autodimming function) i confirm you that the mirror wasnt detached from the screen for any purpose. only the screen was fixed with the mirror attached to it already.
since the car was originally with a mirror without auto dimming function, i guess the relevant fuse must be absent. where is it located so i can put it there... should i open the mirror assembly to check for the voltage, and how to open the assembly plus disconnect the connecter..

If your car came with a manual mirror - then replace it with a manual mirror. As I stated before - you need to check the voltage at the harness that plugs into the mirror w/ ignition on - if you get 0V then you have no power going to that mirror - if you get any voltage then the issue is with the mirror and you will need to replace it.
As far as your hopes for the abs not malfunctioning - refer to post #4

okay so now there is another issue
after attaching the comp it told me that i have a bad rear right and front left abs sensor error.. the rear right is clear nw after being cleaned..
the front left has smthng broken inside which feeds the abs speed sensor a wrong reading.
the mechanic said that i need to replace the sprocket or smthng hub etc so that the abs sensor may be fed with the correct readings....
the abs sensor had sm metel thng on it prolly a sprocket is damaged.nw i wud be replacing it...
secondly the traction light is blinking and it isnt switching on or off as it shud.. it seems the sensors are being told that the weels are nt getting equal torque and traction is activated...
m seriouslu being freaked out of what the hell is wrong with this... i ve changed almost everythng related to it....boosters disc pad. cylinders,,, nw what the hell is left to b replaced... please let me knw abt the traction and the sprocket/hub/ abs speed sensor issue...
