I got such a good deal that I didn't mind but I dind't know that the Xenon lights had such problems. Mine go thru the start up process by pointing down and then going up to a good level but then the bow down and don't come back up. The self adjusting screws seem to be broken because they don't move the lights at all.

In your expert opinions is there a good check list of things to go thru to see if I can fix it without totally replacing them. I was thinking that since the lights went thru the start up process and actually did rise to a good level before going down that it was the sensors but then again it's a new car to me.



p.s. Thanks for having me in your forum, I've always wanted a Jag so a few bugs here and there won't sway my opinion.

 

I would look at the height sensors first, make sure they are connected, electrically and mechanically.

 

Do you have the select edition warranty on the car? Try taking it back to the dealer and telling them you didn't notice as you didn't test drive the car in the night.

I hate to ask this because I'm sure I can find it somewhere but I've looked quite a bit and didn't see it exactly but which height sensor and can I access that without taking the front off? I don't mind taking the front off but if I don't have to it would be nice.

RBing, send a Personal Message (PM) to factoryjaguartech with your VIN and see if he can look up whether or not it has the Select Edition Jag Warranty.

 

The height sensors are bolted to the control arms under the car. You dont need to take anything off, just get under the car.

 

yeah give fjt the last 6 of your vin and he can help you out with the history and info on the car and possibly the warranty. Keep us all updated!

Well I got under the car today but damnitt if I couldn't figure out exactly what I was looking for. There was one piece bolted on the arm that I thought might be it but I couldn't determine if it was the height sensor or not. I'm going to buy a repair manual from a guy on Ebay, hopefully that can help so I don't have to bug you guys so much.


Were are all of my speakers in the car if I have the Alpine premium system. On my navigation I can control the level of what says the sub but I couldn't find it. I believe from everything I've ready that it has 10 speakers. The reason I ask is because I think I'm going to need to replace them. If I turn the bass level up or the sub level up it sound horrible and I'm not talking about to their full levels. 2 or 3 notchs down.

 

The sub (if the same as x-types) is located in the boot underneath the rear panel. The bass in the cars is generally lacking from many that have the stock system. Check out this kit if you have a local circuit city. For the money you can't beat it plus you have your battery already in the trunk so system is only a hooking up of the wires away! Once you put it in the cart it is $182 or something like that...

 

^ similar to the Infinity Basslink (powered sub). They are more than adequate to power enough bass for an X or and S-type. Can be mounted as shown there, or on the side (side in my opinion takes up less space and works just as well) Good recommendation Tony. [sm=smiley32.gif]

 

Ok, I couldn't figure out if the height sensor are connected, broken or what. I really could care less if mylights move. At this poing I would just like to see at night. Is there an easy way to point them at the angle I want and then make them stationary?

 

I feel your pain, everyone who has this car has had this problem. I wasnt able to drive mines at night either. I would try to have the dealer fix it, otherwise either buy some new headlights on ebay, or be prepared to pay $2800 for them at a dealership. Thats all I can say.
