Default Just noticed this on my STR tailights..see pics

you think i would have seen this after owning the str for a year. look at my lights and how different they are...obviously with my honed skills of deduction...one has been replaced...so STR owners..which is the original one... to be honest i like the left side far better...

LEFT
001-1.jpg?t=1300923327
LEFT DIRECTIONAL TRIM IS MATTE CHARCOAL

RIGHT
002-1.jpg?t=1300923327
RIGHT DIRECTIONAL TRIM IS SHINY CHROME

Just looked at mine and they are both charcoal. Maybe it's from a later year? I'm not sure how they changed the tail lights in later years.

That chrome one is definitely a replacement, maybe from a non-S type R, both of mine are charcoal as well.

I think its the one on your left being R's never have some sort of chrome on them (most of them)

Glock is correct. Someone put a replacement on the right side and put a regular S type taillight on it. The R would be the darker kind.

+1.
But if you like the right hand one, nothing to stop you changing the left to match it - it's your car

Before buying a whole new light try and pry off the chrome trim. My guess is it will come off and all will be good.

That must be a older light as well. I just went out and checked mine on my non-R 05 NO chrome.

you are in luck I actually found the one you need, get it while it's hot

also...you will notice that even the red part of the lens is different...the proper R has an darkened aspect to it all around.. see how much clearer the right side is.... so I did buy the whole thing... small $$ for the entire assembly
