I say you try it... If you don't post for a week we'll send a search party with an extra battery for your remote...

The key if put into the ignition will re-enable the car...... I expect.

Any testing needs to be done with the key OUT of the ignition, of course.

That's the way I did it....key out of the ignition. The doors were locked the same way whether I pressed once or twice.

All in all...we've all got too much time on our hands I suspect.

I just can't get the visual of someone in their car after hitting the remote and banging on the window for someone to help them out....

My little thread stirred an awful lot of thought. I dig that. Turns out maybe I'm not going crazy and that we got ourselves two different clones... only one with a "deadbolt". A UK and a US car with different locking characteristics....interesting. You guys all rock as well as Jag Forum. Keep up the fight!

Honestly, this is the kind of stuff that keeps me addicted. It really is neat how different these cars can be. It is also great that there are members from all over the world...

Hey, ever see a Jag S Type with cloth seats?? Yup, they made them for the UK market...

Nice diversion from the "what oil do I use" posts..

The more you are here, the more you'll see it. Glad you enjoy!

Dirk-

I started a thread about 3 months ago that compared reality (wheels on the ground) with the theoretical car as specified or ordered. Several of us noted rather distinct differences. The interesting thing was that the differences all seemed in favor of the buyer.<g>

Yup, that's an American thing but actually you should be able to set up this feature according to your comfort settings .

GM , Ford all uses this but I didn't know S Types have such a feature being an import

Nah....us Mericans aren't smart enough to get deadlocks for our cars...

Actually, my guess is Jaguar didn't want to risk being sued or there is some obscure regulation that requires that you must be able to exit the car... Kind of like the reason there is a little glow in the dark release in every trunk on newer cars sold in the US... Yup...That is not a neat safety feature from the car companies..That is required.. Boy, I heard Tony Soprano was real pissed when that one passed....
