Question Leak Found and Part missing!

I recently did some work on the old Jag and found two things:

1: I have no belly pan?? Made changing the oil easier, but do I need to go and buy one?

2: I found a leak on the parts below:

Name: leak.jpg
Views: 24
Size: 24.7 KB

It had coolant coming from the black knob and gold nut. This is under the right side, front engine. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Check with Ken at www.motorcarsltd.com for a used bellypan.

Thats your AC unit. The green oil is actually the additive that is added to the R134A to track down AC leaks. Does your AC blow cold?

Keep an eye on your HVAC compressor. Once the greenish dye begins to manifest itself around the fittings, some forum members here have experienced compressor failure. Our compressor began dying in May 2010 although no dye leak was evident. Rick (joycesjag) had to replace his compressor earlier this year....

A belly pan is a hassle but definitely worth the protection with all the low-hanging fruit underneath these cars. One of the lowest-hanging fruits of all is the compressor. Perhaps yours was struck by road debris....

Great thanks! I will keep my eye on it. Luckily I won't need the A/C for awhile!! Does the compressor get used for anything else that I should be aware of for failure?

Clean all the dye oil off with brake clean real well and see where it returns. Youll either need the service line or the compressor or both. Give it time. That alot of dye and you have a .6-.7 pounds freon you can loose before it shuts down or only blows cold on the pass side of the dash
