Leaper just died
My leaper just died - fell of the car - good thing it was still parked - the steel cable that hold the ornament wit the spring rusted out. I guess the water got in the bottom of the spring and just stayed there without draining ( the hole in the bottom of the spring got plugged)... Should I repair it ??? or just get the new leaper ??? It seems that it is coming as a assembly with the plastic cover that you just push in the bonnet ) I found one at: Jaguar LEAPING JAGUAR LEAPER HOOD ORNAMENT EMBLEM, SPRING LOADED - XR857738-OE
When repairing - should the spring be a bit compressed when crimping the cable ??? Any ideas ??? I'm attaching pic of the wounded....
Cheers

I would venture a guess as to go to any hardware store, BIG box home store and have a looksie in the nut and bolt dept., The specialty bins have a great selection of different hardware available.
BTW looks like you will need a small washer of some type as well, to keep the new swagged end from popping through the spring.
Maybe take some pics of your fix and post them for others, thanks.
