Default Left Side Repeater Failure - 2000 Jag S Type

I need help. I have changed the bulb and the bulb socket, but am still getting a Left Side Repeater Failure message. It could be a bad repeater unit, but I can't locate where to install a new repeater unit. Does anyone know where the new repeater would be installed? Where is it located on the car?

A few thoughts - did you change out the right bulb? Also, check the socket - too often the metal tabs in the socket get tracked and burned causing a short. A good test would be to pull the bulb/socket assembly from the right headlight assembly and install it on the left side - if the repeater failure message goes away - you need a new socket assembly (PM me - I have one available - they are about $50 from Jaguar - yes, ridiculous - I know)

If you get the same message then you need to change out your turn signal assembly - I changed mine out so I'm familar with the steps - PM me and I will go through them for you. Best bet - look on Ebay for a used turn signal assembly - OES - expensive - good luck.

Mine is out, getting .75volts from harness that plugs into bulb housing. Other side works fine,getting 12-13volts as should. How did you fix yours, I haven't tried to track wiring yet.

Let me get this straight:

British English - "Repeater"
American English - "Turn signals", "Flashers", "Blinkers"

????

Now I am curious, what do the Brits call a device that takes a signal weakened by loss, either from distance (radio waves) or noise (long cable runs), and boosts the amplitude back up?

And I don't mean an amplifier.

Well, we don't really use "repeaters" for your turn signals. We say indicators. The ones on the side are... wait for it... side indicators. (Maybe the trade have a name they use but I'm not trade.)

We use blinkers, too. Flashers tends to mean when all are flashing i.e. when broken down.

Amplifier. That's it.

You can just about get away with booster in some limited cases but frankly amplifier is what we would generally say.

Before you start pulling things apart check your fuses.

+1 on the bulb socket / housing. These are notorious for burning even the dealer admited to it the last time I had to replace it. VERY common falut.

Just get a new socket its probably a 5 minute change and no tools required...

Cheers!

Instructions are in JTIS (downloadable on the forum).... can't recall every step to replace as I changed out my signal assembly a while back when I had this issue...

Basically:

* Disconnect battery and wait at least 30 minutes for airbags to discharge.
* unscrew plastic cover plate around steering wheel.
* remove 2 bolts behind airbag.
* disconnect airbag connector and remove steering wheel airbag.
* Disconnect horn assembly/contact.
* Remove steering wheel. (with puller)
* Disconnect turn signal assembly.

Again, verify the above steps through JTIS - Thanks
