yes because the wheel arch point is in common with the power distribution bus

Thank you all so much for all your help

I managed to get into the boot today - with a bit of effort

If it helps anyone - this is what I did:

I took the bottom of the rear seat out - remove two bolsters and then undid the two catches at the front of the seat.

Released the bottom of the upright seat by undoing four nuts (one each end and two by the bottom of the arm rest). This gave me about 5 -6 inches of access at the bottom of the seat, as the top of the seat back is still attached.

I used a light to see into the boot and reached in using an implement to undo the rear seat release catch (I tried several implements before I got one to work - I eventually used a 17mm spanner tied securely to a long paint roller handle, but any 2ft stick or handle would do). The 17mm spanner was perfect for pushing the catch open. I have a photo of my special tool if anyone is interested.

On releasing the catch I had easy access to the boot, I undid the 2nd catch on the other side of the boot to get full access.

I was then able to reattach the battery terminal and open the boot using my normal key fob

(Likewise, if the battery had been dead, I could have charged it / changed it).

I hope this post helps others who have boot problems or lock their keys in the boot!!!
