Default Locking Wheel Nut

Hi all,

I went to remove the front wheels on my 2000 S type today and my locking wheel nut key is dead, it's the one that fits over the wheel nut and has teeth inside that match to cut outs in the nut.

My question is, how specific are these to the individual car? As in, could I go to a Jag breaker and possibly find a match?

Thanks
Mike

You might get lucky at a breaker but not too likely.
Steve at SB Wheels may be worth asking.

Hey Mike, thats a total bummer......

When my son got his X type, one ofthe first things we did as the locking nuts were a litltle ropey was to bin them and replace with all new std nuts

I have a post about it somewhere but can't remember, sorry

Jim,

I plan to do the same with the locking nuts on my wife's XK8. Her job as a middle school social worker can sometimes require her to drive to some very rough parts of the county so she's always wanted the locking nuts to stay on her wheels to deter theft in situations like that. She retires from her job of 28 years today, so I'm finally getting rid of her locking nuts this coming weekend. She's getting rid of her alarm clock....

There should be a code number stamped on the wheel nut key.

I know on the X300, X308 and XK8 it's a simple 2 number code and would think the S-Type is a similar arrangement.

Jaguar breakers usually have them available.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies.

I called Berkshire Jag Components to see if he had one that might fit and he said it's unlikely, but try the Jag dealer as they have a master. I called my local Jag dealer and they confirmed this but said they are really busy and are not sure when they can fit me in.
I tried Fenn Motor Works (an independent Jag specialist) who are across the road from the dealer and he said yeah, pop it down and we'll sort it. Cost £0.

Great guys.

Thanks
Mike
