Long term battery removal S type diesel 2007?
I have just bought a friends 2007 Jaguar S diesel & he has bought brand new. I don't intend to drive it in the winter, only during the summer as my second car. From the start of November until late March, the car will be garaged, unused and with minimal frost protection background heating. MY QUESTION. Can I just remove battery terminals for the period it will be in storage? Will the cars electronics work normally when power is restored or will it loose vital computer control programming etc/ THANK YOU.

It should be OK. The alarm may well sound when reconnected but just put the key in the ignition.
Pump up the tyres to max and do the other things to store a car. It's not really good for a car.
As it has a DPF be sure to drive it a lot when in use and to check the oil level does NOT rise (a sign of a regen fail) as it tends to destroy the engine soon after.

Hi
Most modern electronic fail when there not powered up
if it were mine I'd leave the battery connected and buy a smart charger like a ctek and leave that on all the time
it will keep the battery tip top and stop any of the electronics failing
I have a Jaguar ctek charger and leave that over winter when the cars not used and never had any issues
cheers

They're not going to fail!! (About the only hassle may be the alarm backup battery.)
However, I'd use a ctek-type device if possible.
And better, if you do that, exercise the EPB from time to time as its mechanical parts may set (as in seize).
All the mechanical parts are likewise not going to love sitting. They should (as in ought to) be OK but some may still play up because that's what happens to parts sitting for extended periods.

I have a 2007 S-type that goes into storage every November and does not come out until May 1st. I live in Eastern Ontario where it gets to -25 C in the winter. The car is stored in an outside garage with no heat. I take the battery out in November, charge it April 30th and re-install on May 1st. Only "problems" are the EPB has to be re-set every year & the alarm sounds when you re-connect the battery. Stops when you insert the key. Battery is stored inside the house up off of the floor.

Thank you Doug, thats quite reassuring. I intend to keep mine at my holiday home so won't receive any attention for a few months once mothballed for the winter. So is the EPB reset a simple DIY job or a more complicated pay a mechanic type of job I wonder?
