How about a 2003 silver/black with 48k, a new from Jaguar ZF transmission, fresh Brembo rotors and pads, one owner, elderly couple, no wrecks, good carfax, supposedly flawless. Asking 14k. On consignment for the couple, friends of his. Sending me high res pics, nice guy btw. Has droopy headlights and was going to spend 1600 to fix... just knock that off the price and I'll fixy fixy .

Anybody in York, PA like to go view this for me? I'll buy dinner when I get there.

Would be a fun drive, 1400 miles back to Texas.

That's a good deal!

You will love the drive back.

I drove Dallas to Sarasota FL, and back in 2 days!!

I just did a trip to Florida and back over the weekend, and let me tell you the STR will soak up miles with ease. The only two drawbacks is the current price of gas, and the fact that you can be driving a lot faster than you think! Thought I got tagged by the police on more than one occasion.

Cruising at 70mph, I got around 27 mpg. A lot better than I thought.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if everything checks out. I paid more than that for mine with 65k on it and it needed about $2,500 in various work to bring her up to snuff.

Working on it... we are close. Bank is ready, airfare picked out... I even have a little work to do (pipeline biz for natural gas wells) while I'm in PA.

Keep in mind though that something always bites ya in the tail... there will be money spent on it when I get back, no doubt something will puke on me. Usually it's a battery.

On a side note...this thing doesn't have Nav, which really doesn't bother me as an 8 year old nav system is not much to miss, but can you retrofit the audio/nav with something modern?

I've read over a few posts but I think they were 05 related if there is a difference.

You are better off without NAV if you want modern NAV.

Look at the new Kenwood double DIN or Pioneer AVIC-Dx

A lot more features for less dough.

So no problems retrofitting a double DIN in place of the stock unit? I'm in total agreement with you, just didn't know if it was possible physically.

Not a big issue, will cross that bridge IF I get this deal done.

Taking a leap of faith, long distance deal but it's done. I'm going to fly to PA next Friday. Looks like I own a 2003 STR with 48k miles!

I'm not going to tell you guys what I paid for it, might make you other STR owners cry.

It looks clean. It has a fair number of miles and it's a 2003. What, $9K?

Seems crazy because of how nice these cars are but based on my shopping last year that's about right. Hell of a deal if if there are no big issues.

Negative Ghostrider, no tint but I'm calling a local shop in PA to see about having it done before I pick it up. I'm a West Texas boy and know what heat is all about, I've seen stuff melt in a car that you can't believe. You learned early on not to leave a CD laying in the seat, even in the case, looks like a Pringles chip after a few hours in the July heat.

Plus the security issues, no sense putting everything in plain view like bait.

Uh huh... right, I tell you what, you find a 48k mile 03 STR that is clean with no issues and let me know, I'm gonna buy it and bring down here to make me about 5k. I'm not kidding either.

Did I pay 9k? No, higher than that but hey, I may want to sell it to one of you guys some day!

Ya I don't miss the FL heat, but I am not sure if I want to tint my car or not being here in Kentucky. The heat isn't that much at all.
