Zachary Alami Could you do that to an X-Type? there comparable cars, like the S-Type to the X-Type is like a BMW M5 to a M3.

I'm looking to get an S-Type, saw this 1JZ swapped one going for 3 grand, and it seems like a good deal. I heard it was for sale a while back for over twice the current asking price, should I get this, or get an STR instead?

If you're also in Orlando, please don't steal this from me
Non-running project should go for $300.
Only one in the world non-running Jag with Toyota engine. Funny!
It needs 2 more mods:
wheels from 84 Chevy Cavalier and headlights from Chinese scooter.

Is Hunter Hutson a JF member?

This thread needs to be moved to the off topic area with its own title, "question for question 1JZ". I have a feeling there are more questions than answers for this.

I wonder why the 9 day old CL ad is using pictures of the mythical monster from 2013. Maybe that's it, its still mythical(?)!

Looking at the details in the posted pictures, I would guess that the car did run at some point in time. In one picture with the bumper off,you can see the turbocharger intercooler. But with the turbo removed you can't see the the inlet ducting. you can see one vertical blue air inlet tube by the ABS module.

The only way they could make it run is if they used the stock transmission and were able to keep it in its stock location so they didn't have to put in a new drive-shaft. If they changed the trans, then ABS, (TCS) wouldn't work right because their wouldn't be the proper trans signals. (1999.5 to 2002 with 5-speed would be easier than the newer 6 speed ZF.)

The engine doesn't appear to be a GTE engine, else it would have 2 turbochargers. This also means that the engine is probably older than the car. (More difficult to pass smog in most states.)

One would be lucky if the engine has over 200HP.

On a side note, There is a big following for the 1JZ engines and they have been swapped into a lot of other cars. If would have been a straight forward installation into an S-type.

It actually ran fine, Making 390 rear wheel horsepower, until the owner actually cuts the alternator plug, so it just needs a new one of those

If it "ran fine", why did the owner "actually cuts the alternator plug"?

See more questions to add to this puzzle.

I'd like to see the dyno results on that one. Looks like they put on the "street Demon" single turbo kit, costs under $1000.00 Advertising states "Up to 390 HP) - Perhaps at 30psi boost, but the CL ad states it is at stock boost, therefore it might produce around 200hp.

The parts in the kit are capable of supporting an engine build to 390 HP. I doubt it the engine is anything but stock. If the engine is built up to output 390 hp, then I'd buy the car just for the engine!!!
