Default Looking for Equivalent to OEM Coolant Hose

Greetings All,

Had a coolant hose burst yesterday on my '02 V6. It is Jaguar #AJ89508. I have ordered one online but am trying to find an aftermarket version locally to cut down on waiting time.

Here's the failed hose, as seen on this image stolen from eBay:

The hose connects the aft side of the water pump to a fitting in the valley at the top of the block.

I found Gates 02-1690 as an equivalent:

https://www.gatesautocat.com/p/molde...s/02-1690.html

I thought this would be perfect, but I cannot find anybody in the US who carries this part. Searching for "Gates 02-1690" brings up plenty of hits in Europe, but nothing stateside. Searching by category at the various auto parts websites (NAPA, Carquest, etc.) was also a dead end. Any suggestions? Really hoping to reduce downtime, as the car has been in the transmission shop for the last few weeks.

Karl I believe this is the hose. The water outlet to water pump hose:

Yes, that is the exact part I have on order. I did find a NAPA NBH 744 locally and got that installed last night. It's a 1.25" inside diameter elbow, to be cut to length. It worked fine. I also replaced the straight tube above it with NAPA NBH 630. Both parts fit fine, and should be available from any NAPA in the US.

Check out the damage to the old hose:

The only trouble I had was removing the clamps due to the swelling of the hoses. It had the stock "constant tension" hose clamps, but I couldn't loosen them enough to slide past the swollen section. Access to the clamps wasn't the problem, as I was able to get in there adequately with my special hose clamp pliers. I use a cut-off wheel in a die grinder and sliced off the worst offender.

On two other clamps, I had to cut off the tab shown here with an arrow. This tab was limiting the squeeze action of the pliers. With the tab cut off, I was able to squeeze further and loosen the clamp a little bit extra for removal:

Your old one isn't the stock hose. Note the bit of extra padding that appears to be a piece of old pipe glued on. The stock hose has this moulded onto it (you wont see the reinforcing threads).
This padding is essential to avoid the hose being chafed.
I didn’t bother getting the genuine part either. On mine I bought universal silicon elbow and glued on a pad too. It will last much longer than stock.

sorry for opening this up again. i want to write my experience here, as i did the fix very cheap.
yes this is a common fault now the these rubbers got old.
any 90 degree elbow coolant hose with the same aprox diameter will do. i took a pice of hose off a vw i found in the scrap yard. of course i checked for cracks and for its juvenility.
i used common jubilee clamps instead of the stock tension ones as my hose was a bit larger.
been more than 1 year had no issues. i changed my pump yesterday and i had to take that hose off, still looks perfect.
