Loose Timing chain, rattle, p1381 and p0420 in my 2000 3.0

So I had p1381 and a rattling/ticking sound at cold idle and I changed the oil. There was only 4 quarts in there (my guy didn't really check how much he was suppose to put in). I pulled the VVT solenoid on the affected bank and found metal flecks on the screen, the screen was intact. I pulled on both chains and yes the tensioner on the affected bank was shot. I'm about to do a leak down test but I wanted to know what you guys think about a really loose timing chain? It all happened in the pre christmas blizzard up here in the northeast. I was really laying the pedal to the metal trying to get out of the snow and when I went to drive the car the next day I heard a rattling/ticking when I gave it gas. After the oil change it rattled on start up. Are these non inteference engines in the 3.0?

I guess what I'm asking for is anyone's input on my problem. Has anyone had a problem with the tensioners on the 3.0s? I know they dont' have the plastic ones like the v8. Are there any other problems? I really don't want to put this back together and just to have it still have problems.

Low and or dirty oil can cause that code p1381. There is also a PCM reflash for that code as well that corrects false flagging but with only 4 quarts of oil it was probably the low oil. I would put it back together and change the oil a couple of times in the next 3000 miles. You can also get air in the VVTs and cause rattling due to low oil. I'm just saying be certain there is an actual problem before taking the timing cover apart. The p0420 is a bad catalytic converter. If you are in the states it is covered by the federal 8/80 emmission warranty if you are still in.
