If they didn't depreciate so much I couldn't have bought the car.

Really I ought to have bought something more sensible.

But instead I bought an STR. I hope to run it for 5+ years (it's over 5 already) and do at least most of the maintenance myself.

Not sure if I'm crazy or not.

Not an STR, but... my story..
Late last June when I got my '06 3.0, the dealer had a 4.2 sitting next to it. The "list price" for both was the same. Test drive over with and we went to do the paperwork. YIKES!!!!!!!!! It was wayyyy over my budget at $460 a month for a 36 month lease. Then we did the figures on the 3.0 which came in about $140 a month less..WTF!!!!!!!!
I was told that the price of gas (about $5/gallon in the L.A.area) was driving the residual values of v-8's wayyy down into the dumps...<<<sighhh> oh well, they wouldn't budge enough so I settled for the 3.0. So far, I've been quite pleased with it.
