Memory seat frustration
This has me stumped??.
09/01 S Type SE 3ltr V6.
Drivers seat, with, memory #1 and #2.
I have #1 set to my liking, and on removal of the key the seat etc goes to "exit" position, sweet.
Spousy, suffering ducks desease, has the seat waaaaay forward, and uses #2 as her setting, BUT, when she removes the key, the seat etc stays where it is.
I have had the battery disconnected numerous times for all sorts of reasons, and yes, the memory is lost as to driving settings, but "exit" mode still remains, which does make sense.
Reading for many days, even the handbook, has enlightened me ZERO, so maybe there is some magic words needed, or the angle of the tongue in the mouth is wrong, dunno.
Thanks again on advance.

i think i might have read somewhere that the seat only moves back a max of 6 inches so if it is more than 6 inches from right back it wont move.
i can't remember where i read this, or when, so the is a good chance i'm totally wrong.
to test it set memory 1 all the way forward and see if it moves back on key removal.

If it is like the X308, the memory is tied to both the fob and the key. Make sure all the programming for your spouse is done with her combination of fob and key.
A workaround, if you have a position #3, is to set #3 to the exit position.
Another alternative, is to trade fob+key, program for your spouse as she has the greater need.

Thanks guys.
I will test that 6" theory when day breaks once again.
Plums, nothing to do with the fob, as this "S" is not that smart. The fob is a seperate item and only locks and unlocks the doors, and opens the boot. Only got 2 positions for memory.
The neighbour has a 308, and that is a sweet system, and I reckon the "S" got that with the 2003 update??.

Mmmmmm, better understanding, maybe??.
1) Changed "my" settings to #2, and so on, NO difference, so I deem the module, black box, whatever is just fine.
2) Set the seat at my settings, moved it forward maybe about 3 - 4", and it did move backward on key removal, as designed, BUT, not as far as it did from my position, which is pretty far back anyway.
3) Set it to her settings, and removed the key, and it moved back some distance also, maybe about 6" or so.
I now gather from this is that it was never designed to move to the far rear position for exit mode??.
The X308 is definately a better system in my opinion.
I did not pursue that issue any further, it is what it is, and the rattle in the LHF door that is driving my NUTS, is a priority. Appears some previous "idiot" has replaced the window regulator, and the cables, wires, plastic shield are all flapping in the breeze, as well as bolts not tight. It will be sorted properly after the BBQ, and some home brew, so it could be an interesting reassembly, HA.

i new 6 inches of movement was involved somehow. lol.
I just tested it on mine and it seems on key removal, the wheel moves up and away from any position but the seat will only move backwards roughly 6 inches from whatever position it was in.
Because i'm tall 6ft2 i have the seat almost right back anyway so never came across the problem
