Middle storage console removal

My boxer put a hole in the leather of my middle arm rest. I just went to a pick and pull place to get another part and the s type they had was black leather so the guy sold me the arm rest for 20.00. I didn't watch how he got the middle storage out but I can see the arm rest has two bolts I need to access below the storage. I don't want to break anything trying to get it out so I thought I would ask. I tried downloading the JTIS but have had some issues.
2003 by the way.
Thanks in advance.

I can't really tell if that is a screw head in the bottom - but there doesn't seem to be a symmetrical one across from it, like I'd expect. I'm pretty sure the black dot on the upper rim is a rubber bumper, though not certain. It doesn't help much but
at least we can confirm or deny this is the part you are contemplating removing?

...yes, it is a screw; Torx if I remember correctly.
...again, if I remember correctly there is a second screw under the cup holder/spill tray, which must be removed (looks like you've already done that). If not, you simply pry out the cup holder, remove the spill tray under it and reveal this second screw.
...yes, that is a rubber bumper. No need to mess with it.
After removing the 2 screws, the inner console liner can be gently pried out starting at the rear where the hinge is located. There is a groove in the console to the right of the hinge (you can clearly see it in your picture almost in the shadow) specifically for this purpose. Insert a pry tool (I used an allen wrench) under the lip of the liner in that groove and gently pry the liner up and away from the console/armrest.
You will probably need to disconnect the power connector on the bottom of the 12V outlet inside the console, and possibly those other connectors as well before the liner can be completely removed. If you can remove the old armrest & install the new one without unplugging anything, so much the better. Just be cautious with electrical connections.
So simple even a Neanderthal like me was able to do it without breaking anything. Good Luck!

Thanks for filling in the blanks, JJF! Looked like RB had been sitting there all day with no bites, so, knowing I'd done it before, I tried to shine a bit of light on it, however dim. The car is a 6 hr drive away at school with my daughter so I couldn't just pop out and refresh my memory - and it was late so the thought of digging into the center console of the wife's 05 and digging through all the stuff she keeps in there to see what I needed to just didn't appeal to me.

I need to replace the arm rest assembly on my 2003 S-Type. I was able to remove the compartment with the two screws however it appears that I have to remove the console cover to remove the entire assembly. I've removed the two screws holding the hinge but there are two tabs in the metal that hold it in place.
How can I remove the console cover so I can remove the hinge.
Thank you,
Lewis

M8 the air vents in the rear seat must be removed mine was realy tight to prise off , the clips are covered in anti squeek felt so thay hang on for deer life there are 4 clips , two at the top and two most the way down in the sides , it pulls off rearwards , I managed to prise it off with just my fingers ! But would be pain full for the soft handed type , behind the air vents are two 15 torques screws mid way down and rite up the top are two clip tabs just under the hinge!
Pull them rearwards and the sides of the console peel away and expose the hinge screws.
Just had mine off for cable adjustments and repaird my lid clips that hold it shut these things are fiidly ! Hope this helps
