Default Mileage....Range?

Hello All,

I knew the STR would be a gas guzzler but the range seems to be less than what I expected. Anyhow i'm getting approx. 425km from full tank until the light comes on....is this about normal? My driving is approx. 70%hwy and 30% city.

Cheers,
Michael

I'm the last person to ask about fuel range. This morning I ran out of gas on the parkway while on the way to the office. Called 911, then a HELP truck came and the nice dude put in two gallons. Made it to a station and quickly shoved in 6 gallons and made it to the office 35 minute late with 10 patients waiting for me. The fuel sending unit has been busted since picking her up last May. Looking for a salvaged unit. It's both pump and sending unit combo. Otherwise, if ya easy on the pedal she'll reward ya with an average 23 mpg flat highway.

Durango is huge and heavy! The STR is just a small sedan.

I dont think the mileage is all that bad. I had two large V8 cars before the STR and though it seems I fill the STR up alot more after looking at how much I spend its actually less. The STR does have a small tank in my opinion. Thats something to consider when figuring the mileage to empty. I have never put more then 40 in the tank at 2.96 a gallon average around here. I would consistently put 40-50 in my 2 previous cars when gas when less then that. Tomorrow will be my second long trip in the STR so I'm gonna see what it says I'm gonna get on the guage and see if its close to my last car.

With a small tank..... Small tank=Small range

I fill up with about 50 or less showing on the display (less than quarter tank) and it only takes between 11 to 13 gallons to fill it.

Remember.. It is REAL bad to run the fuel pump(s) dry on these so they have a pretty big reserve built in as well.

So, you may not like the range (increased frequency of fill up), but how is the mpg? I'm guessing your getting high 17's to 20 on average (real good for a 400hp sport sedan).

I drive 38 miles each way to and from work at about 60mph. It's 80% hyw 20% cty. I'll lead foot it a couple times a week just to play. I'm averaging 350 miles out of a tank. With 400+ hp I think that's great mileage.

I average about 16 MPG (up to 20 MPG if I drive more highway miles) and about 280-300 miles on a tank. I fill up when the yellow light comes on. I drive probably 25% highway, 70% city, 5% pedal to the thickly-carpeted-metal.

Define "full tank"!! How many litres/gallons do you have to add to refill having done the 425km?

I get about 8km per litre on about your mix of driving. I don't often exceed 70mph by much.

The only way to be sure is to fill, measure distance driven, fill again and use a calculator (or your brain if your arithmetic's ok).

It`s neither small nor light. 425 for a supercharged V8 in a heavy sedan is good.

Some things are vague at the moment.
I didn't see the cars mileage anywhere.
No mention of previous work or tune up.Car might be due for tune up and filters and other maintenance.
If this guy is in Western Canada and just bought the car the weather in the -20 range for the last 10 days or so will greatly effect the mileage.

Like me when I first got mine I was heavy on the throttle just for fun.
When I settled down the mileage increaed.

Really? Gee, I guess that living in Quebec (Canada) all of these years means that I am completely clueless when it comes to the metric system...

Correct. Now, since he and I are in Canada, we will have to convert the US gallon to either litre or Imperial gallon.
