Mina Gallery Intake

Mina Gallery Intake
Hi fellas. With cbharley's (Chris) strong endorsement, I went with the Mina intake and can only report a noticeable gain in throttle response and rwhp. If one checks out late model Mustang intakes from Shelby and Rousche, you'll notice they use a Mina style intake...for a good reason: FLOW. If you thought the Mafioso or Caldoofy modded air intake tube let her flow, then popping on the Mina intake definitely gives the full compliment of incoming flow of air our STR's deserve. The combo of modded air intake tube and Mina intake likely allows an increase of 24 rwhp. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

I am absolutely in awe at how well the intake functions. The install is a breeze and now that they are including the heat shield this is a MUST HAVE mod for the STR club!
I wouldnt have believed it, if you told me before I tried it, but the throttle response is AMAZING and the sound... music to your ears!
If you are using the K&N flat panel today even with teh WOT flap mod, rip that plastic box of garbage out and bolt on one of the best improvements you can buy for less than $150!!
Glad to hear you like it bfsgross (Seth) I am very careful about what I endorse and this one is a big 2 thumbs up!!

EDIT: So this comes with the air filter and the aluminum elbow? Wondering if I can use my current Qwiketz elbow with this intake relative to the diameters being different? In other words: Qwiketz elbow+Mina Intake

So this works with your cladoofy elbow perfectly? Did you decide not to use the aluminum elbow that Mina provided? Could I bother you to take more pictures around the heat shield? I am curious of the amount of space in between.

I don't see why it wouldn't. The silicon couplers will allow some flex in the size they can go down to, and in worst case, you would just have to pick up another coupler.

I am using the Caldoofy elbow and the Mina intake. The Mina intake only comes with the Cone filter, heatshield, aluminum MAF box and the silicon connector betwen the MAF and the filter.
What you see in my setup is the Mina Kit combined with the Caldoofy elbow. They fit beautifully together like they were meant to go together. As you can see very nice looking and clean setup. I can take some additional pictures of the heatshield and post for you later on. Just FYI, there is a "U" shaped cut-out / channel where that the filter goes through. There is also rubber moulding at all edges and a big piece of weathersealing that goes across the top of the heatshield and actually seals in the filter from the top within the channel...
Its a really nice setup!
Cheers!

The modded air intake tube and Mina intake are the missing link for the STR's breathing capabilities, and worth 25 rwhp. Observe its competitors ECU tune, intake, and exhaust. Here you'll wonder why Jaguar deliberatlely restricted both (suppression of intake and exhaust noise and/or engine/trans. longevity?) We have a 4.2 supercharged engine with a potential of 500 chp, held back by corporate befudlling. Proof? Simply take a look at Avos's 640 chp 4.2 s/c with stock intake, exhaust with sport catalysts, but a twin screw. Same engine, intake, and exhaust as an STR, save a 2.5 L twin screw in place of the Eaton M112 (1.9 L).

I cant comment on issues folks reported on teh previous intake kit from Mina. I was getting a CEL running a straight up K&N flat panel in my stock air box configuration (non modded complete with WOT flap) several years back and had actually cconverted back to a plain paper filter.
After much research and talking with Chris at Mina I decided to give this a go. Besides, $135 bucks for a quick 12HP mod that I can always take out if need be seemed too good to pass up.
I put mine in in about 30 minutes and havent had any issues with it since. NO CEL, NO Restricted Performance, NO ISSUES whatsoever just a great increase in throttle response and some very nice blower whine!!
Seriously, this one is well worth the asking price and whatever they have changed with the MAF location and inclusion of the heat shield etc, it works!
