Misfire ?
#2
Depends on how bad they are. We need to understand that even a perfectly running engine will and does have random misfires. This does not mean anything until they rise to the level determined by Jaguar as a problem.
So you might get no check engine light. You might get a check engine light. And worse of all you might get a flashing check engine light which is telling you the cats are in danger of being damaged or destroyed if you keep driving.
It also not unusual to scan for codes and find some misfire codes but the engine has been running just fine. The engine monitoring software is very precise these days. The next step is automatic reporting to the government when you car has an emissions problem. This will happen in the next several years as the OBD laws are tightened around our necks further.

No exhaust leaks,
it wasn't hitting the rev limiter, it was under 3000rpm
it was just a coupple of pops and only under wot, the doesn't seem to be any isues when driving and will still spin its wheels form standstill in the dry.
I only noticed it cos i had the door open and was parked next to a wall, maybe it's always done it and i''ve never noticed.
If i buy a obd scan tool from ebay for about £15-£20 will i be able to use that with the AutoEnginuity software ?

You can freely download their software from their site. No special effort needed.
It's no use without their lead and an activation code specific to your lead.
How much do you want to spend, maximum? Also, do you have a laptop running Mickeysoft windoze?
edit: or a smartphone? (but result will be not as good as a laptop)

Sorry if i'm dragging this on a bit
Would this one be ok ?
ELM327 Scanner Software USB Interface - Free Shipping
It doesn't list Jaguar in the compatability lists.

The USB end looks odd but so long as it's actually OK it should be fine. OBD II is a standard (bit of a minimal one, but still) and mandated by laws so even Bentleys etc all have it.
Be careful not to flatten the battery. Shortish periods or start engine (or attach charger to car battery). OBD uses next to nothing but you need ign II so lot's on!
