How many different size V8's did they put in that year?
I better answer this...

I wrote '02 (not 2002.5 my ~ aka 2002-1/2), so.... and....

As far as I know, while the 2002.5 with the 4.2L was available in Europe, the 4.2L didn't appear in NA until '03. The electric parking brake didn't come out in NA until 2003. Which means an '02 V8 model in NA would not be a 4.2L. Right or wrong?

I'm unconvinced that you have an X202. I'd go for X200, though I doubt most care.

Ok, here's where we are with this thread, my take on it...

To the OP ( Original Poster ) 30788.......

Firstly, I see no unfriendly or unhelpful behaviour here, either from JagV8, Polic666 or any others.
Simply, I see a frustration of members willing / perhaps able to help but hindered by your lack of information to enable them to assist you
.

That was put across quite simply I thought, but you took exception to it.

What I see is as follows..

Your unusual username, which I find strange, this coupled with your negative remarks about the brand, failed attempt at humour etc and reluctance to add the correct details of your vehicle, don't help the case I'm afraid. Jaguar as a brand are not perfect, the cars have issues and or imperfections, but we deal with them and move on.

I'd suggest you're probably viewed as a troll almost.
Please accept my sincere and genuine apologies if this isn't the case.

The reasoning behind the "suggested" vehicle details in the signature?
We have many techs and excellent / knowledgable DIYers here always happy & willing to help. If however, they have to go through several posts just to get that basic of info, it makes for a very long winded process, multiplied by their large post count.......I'm sure you can begin to see just how frustrating it can be?

ie - Please help us to help you!

There is a thread in the "New member" section entitled
<>-<> New members - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read <>-<> A MUST read if you just signed up

This is NOT a MUST as in you must view it sign acceptance in blood.

Its more of a MUST read to help you & other new members to understand the workings of the forum and get the very best out of the experience.

As a general rule, we have a very helpful & friendly bunch of guys here, its the way we want it and most everyone complies.

Anyone not complying and causing offence / irritation / hassle / grief etc are given short shrift and very quickly moved on.....THIS APPLIES TO ALL.

I genuinely hope that we can get past this and move on, helping you to become part of the site and enjoy the experience getting the most out of it.

If this isn't the case, you have any further issues or there's anything else I can help with, please feel free to pm me at any time.

We're happy to help where we can.

I don't know. You'll have to refer to Technical Bulletin S501-09. The factory wrote it.

Figuring out whether it's a design flaw with the lid, the rubber seals, seams, or anything else may be a waste of time, as MANY an owner (source: on-line search 's-type water in trunk') has tried to solve the problem but hasn't.

So, the main concern might be which type of aquatic life does one choose to keep in the trunk of their Jaguar?

On line searches can yield amazing, yet sad pics of empty aquariums....

as for the water in trunk, most commonly enters around the rear light cluster.

see JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

I had water in the trunk, i cured the leak by sealing the rear light cluster to the body, removing the trunk seal, rotating 90* and refitting.

Yes, a well known issue on these cars but again, it's not the lid that leaks................

Default I probably cant add mudh here, but...

I'm no car expert - I only know I love my 04 STR V8, and I look good driving it...lol...but I did want to say that my trunk does not leak at all, never has...my interior trunk is pristine, no water ever having marred it. Maybe Im just lucky.

Yours and thousands of others,

That's one of the problems when people first join a forum, all ttheypeople's e problems, so they think the brand or model is flawed.

What they don't see is the thousands of problem free cars, as no one posts "car running great, never had a problem"

I myself have had a leaky boot, a coil fail, a rear caliper stick and needed a new battery. But for a 14 year old car thats not bad for all the years I've had it. Yet if someone just read my posts aboutd those issues, they would think my car was falling to bits. Couple that together with everyone else's faults and to the uneducated newbie it could very well look like a few people's problems were everybody's problrms
