Default motor idle control-random misfires

codes tell this and we cleaned the idol control and its not shutting off when it idols. It does give random engine misfires code when running. 68K miles

Having problems finding replacement part used. and wonder if its a waste of time?
we did the the coils and total tune up 20K miles back. Cost us $1200 to get that done.

Thanks for having me at your group, New here and my first post.

See below, we have no idea what you have. Cost sounds like they robbed you.

Welcome to the forum. I suggest that you go here and properly introduce yourself per forum protocol: New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Secondly look in the top left hand corner of any site page and look for "UserCP", click on that, look for "Edit Signature" click, add your vehicle details such as year, engine etc... This will help us help you when you have questions about your S Type.

Now with that said, What year and motor are you inquiring about? See time wasted when I could be answering your question.

When "they" replaced coils and such did the mechanic change the rubber elbow located under the lower intake manifold? The following link may help, I hope you have access to the pics: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ics-faq-52720/ You will find the first 2 paragraphs very helpful.

The above is a known cause for random misfires and rough idle.

Worth looking at fuel trims, engine hot, parked, at idle & 2500rpm, to get ideas if it's not the hose.
