Default My $8.73 S-Type key fob refurbishment

$8.73 for two key fob shells off Amazon including CA tax 😁 with next day shipping. The rubber key pad is an exact fit for my 2000 S-Type key fob. I tried to find a cheap shell or keypad that matched the all black buttons but couldn’t find any. The S-Type fob has part number XR83-15K601-AA. If you search Amazon or eBay for 15K601-AA you will find a lot of Ford key fob options that have a matching keypad.

Perfect timing! Thanks so much. Yesterday I got to wondering about replacing the buttons on my remote. The lock and unlock symbols were almost completely worn off. I never thought to search for a Ford part.

I found a new case for less than $5 on Amazon. Should be here Tuesday. I'll post the link once I can verify the buttons fit my existing Jaguar case.

There are lot of three button and five button choices out there so make sure you get the four button version. If you search for “shell only” with the part number you can find the least expensive ones. I still have both original fobs so I bought a two pack.

The swap takes 5 minutes if you spend a couple of those minutes cleaning gunk off the old housing.

Here’s the link to the one I bought but this link may not be valid forever. I included the company and part number in one of the photos.

Much happiness to report. I only have one fob, so this is what I ordered for a whopping $4.75:

Amazon Amazon

I robbed the rubber cover (over the four buttons) and it fit perfectly. I didn't bother posting any pics, as the details are exactly the same as you've described above. The new rubber piece fit perfectly in the existing Jaguar shell. I spent more time cleaning than anything else. With a new 2032 battery, I was good to go.

If your Jaguar fob case is damaged, you could easily transfer the guts over to this generic case and be back in business.
