Very cool…i have 150k to go to catch up with you, lol…have only 50k miles on my 2000 S type (which is for sale on this site)….but i did have a 94 Caravan that I bought new, sold it in 2008 with 190k miles and it was still going strong, original motor and tranny and those were known to have bad 3 speed delicate trannys….i think my trick was it never went past 2k miles without an oil change, and every 25k I changed tranny fluid and filter….and I'm kind of a nut and baby my cars, I slightly come off the gas between shifts of the tranny…i know I'm a kook, but i remember my dad doing that when i was a kid….he was a truck driver and drove his car with automatic as if it was coming off the gas to depress an imaginary manual clutch….I don't want to jinx myself but I've never had to put a tranny or motor in any car I've owned and I've been driving since the 70's….i think transmission life can be extended by slow take offs from start and easy driving while its going through the gears and servicing them every 25-30k miles.

I had my trans rebuilt at 195K miles and I have the fluid and filter changed out every 20K miles. (a requirement regarding the extended warranty I have on the trans) - just rolled past 226K miles today... I drive her and enjoy her...

Thanks everyone! I treated my Jag to a newer set of halogen headlamp assemblies w/ the upgraded headlamp adjusters purchased off of ebay - what a difference! Brutal's headlamp fix lasted long but it was such a nice day - just decided to get those headlamps on as they were taking space in the storage shed and I finally got around to installing a replacement valiance panel (purchased from another member on the forum) I reinforced the corners with aluminum patch panels (weak spots) riveted them into place and installed as well...
I love this car . the lines are gorgeous the color, sapphire blue, is gorgeous and the new 19 inch chrome wheels are gorgeous. I love it.
Plan on keeping her or as long as I'm able to drive and I still probably will never hit the 200,000 mile mark.

First sign of the tensioners going is a quick rattling sound right after start up... for maybe 2 - 3 seconds then the noise dissipates as oil pressure expands the tensioners...
