With the Bosch battery in there it was getting more frequent like a couple times a week. Once I swapped the old battery back in I've not experience anything like that. Not exactly conclusive but at least now if it does happen again we can rule out the battery.

The Pep Boys battery was built by Bosch, correct?

After it failed, did you get a replacement battery (another Bosch, I assume), or did you get a cash refund?

Will you go with a Bosch battery again?

Yes I got a replacement Bosch - no charge.

I'd hate to dump on Bosch for this.

If it is the battery, it did fail their test, then I think it's just a fluke.

I've never had a battery fail like this and I've been around a while.

Maybe it was just those GD Germans sabotaging the Brits again eh? I'm 1/2 German.

Fingers crossed indeed!

Twenty-five years ago, Bosch was considered a high-end brand in the automotive parts world. I believe their overall quality control has slipped drastically since then. That may be a result of second-tier and third-world components suppliers in the ever-increasing attempts to cut production costs....

Not bashing, just commenting. I believe that Denso and NGK have both surpassed Bosch in quality control and reliability. I have no statistics to prove that - I'm speaking purely from personal experience with various replacement components during the past couple of decades....

I may, however, try the Bosch battery in our Jaguars when the factory batteries finally give up the ghost. I doubt if Bosch actually makes the battery - it may be made by Johnson Controls....

I was kidding!

I don't know who makes them but I have to believe they were manufactured here in NA as these are heavy items to ship.

Do you know where the date is on the Jags batteries? I couldn't find one and just assumed it was the original.

No one would reveal anything about the maintenance on this car except for warranty work and I'm the only one who did any of that.
