What tire sizes did you put on? Is the ride really hard?

Nice. A big classic five spoke looks much better than fancy chrome ones any day IMHO.

Most excellent! As much as I love the look I'm just not personally brave enough (yet) to run 20s.

fits fine but no thanks. 20's reduce performance, stopping and braking, exponentially, and the cost of tires is ridiculous. looks good, just not for me.

Nice rims OP...Way too pricey for me, I don't even want to know how much the STR staggered setup costs if they even make them...

A heavier rim/tire combo (odds are most 20s will be heavier than OEM STR wheels) will stop you faster in most street applications...Where the reduced braking performance comes in is stopping at excessively high speeds...You can also find several brands of tires that aren't much more money compared to the 18s, but there are some brands/models that may be exponentially more...

To answer all of your questions

Bacardi 151 The wheels do not feel any heavier than the standard 19 inch original wheels and as for the cost of the tyres no worse than the original Pirrellis Jaguar fitted.

rasputin My STR was one of the last produced and it was fitted with the 19 inch Barcelona Alloys as standard so the difference in performance is minimal and so far i cannot tell the difference. I did a bit of reasearch into which tyre choice to go for and yes the rolling radius is slightly more than the standard wheel.

damienedwards Wheels are all 20 x 9 and no rubbing, yes the wheel are from the XJ range.

Michael Star Yes cr is lowered using H&R Springs

JagV8 Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 255/30/20 all round and the ride is no worse than before. You cannot safely fit anything wider onto a 9 inch rim.

Is 255 wide enough? Doesn't sound like it.

Why go narrower than the width Jaguar chose?

Yes i know the rears should be 275 but you cannot safely fit a 275 tyre on a 9 inch rim and when you place the 255 tyre next to the original again there is very little in it and the car handles fine.

You should have 9.5 rear rims, right?

20mm is a lot... I don't get it, why reduce the handling and safety?

He apparently likes the looks of 20s, but not the R badge...lol...

The question to ask is, how much is handling and safety reduced by? Not even sure why you mention safety...You could make the argument that the STR was engineered for it's OEM staggered setup...Now I'm curious, does the 2008, the only STR equipped with 19s have the same suspension as the older STRs? Sidewall flex is a major factor in handling and I wonder if Jag even accounted for it...He already said he put on lowering springs which brings the suspension out of spec...Also it's popular to change struts when doing the springs, if he did that then he's also out of specs...Tire contact patch % and even compound greatly affects handling, I'm GUESSING there are summer only 255s with high contact patch % that can outperform all season 275s with a small contact patch % in the handling dept...Lastly, where exactly are you guys pushing the handling of the car to the limits, highway on ramps?

Going from staggered to equal sizes reduces under steer (we have too much understeer to even mention the word oversteer), perhaps he'll lose .05-.1G's in the skidpad...The biggest drawback for him would be more wheelspin from a stop to WOT...

Love those wheels on an S-Type. Wonder how they'd look with a darker color?

When a car is a fashion accessory why get a high performance one?

Going by this performance-minded logic, you should be pushing every STR owner to swap their heavy brakes, rims and tires to a lighter 3.0 S-Type brake/rim/tire setup...
